Can I transfer 50% of my share ISA to NatWest's cash isa?

Hello

I'd like to transfer half of my stocks and shares ISA to NatWest's cash isa. NatWest pay 4.85% fixed for 2 years which I think is a decent rate.

I am sure I will have impending redundancy in the next 6-12 months and I want to reduce my risk. Thanks

Has anyone managed to transfer part of ISA to another bank? Would I need to transfer it to a T212 cash isa and then transfer it to a S&S ISA?

Almost a 1% increase if I were to remortgage.

My rate is 3.76% and if I were to remortgage today my bank would offer 4.72%, which would increase my monthly payments by another £170. Doesn't sound like much but it would make things more difficult. I had foolishly assumed we'd get a lower rate when remortgaging.

What sort of rates are you getting?

Time to dump metals?

My silver eft is down approx 18%, and seems to go lower everyday. I am considering selling it and buying 1/2 gold and 1/2 S&P.
It was purchased as a diversifier but I didn't realise it would be so volatile.

Greed got the better of me

I was in VRWP and then decided I need some excitement. I've lost a fair bit over the past few months which makes me think I should revert to VRWP.
Would you wait for a recovery or just sell and move it in VRWP immediately.

How much does a typical Indian wedding cost?

I went to one and food and alcohol were in free flow. They must have had upwards of 500 guests. There were also 3 ceremonies before the wedding, which included DJ, food, booze, videographers etc.

And how do people afford this? I know as a demographic Indians are wealthy but there are plenty working in normal jobs.

Thought I managed to survive redundancy.

Senior management have been drilling the likehood of redundancies to us for months, following the merger of two massive departments - each with 2k employees.

They announced the new organisational structure in early June and there were a small number of redundancies, mainly at senior management level, but nothing like what we had assumed. It was a massive relief as I thought my job was safe.

At the start of July, we had 4 people join my team from the other division, and 2 of them do exactly the same job that I am doing.
We've had an internal reorg and some of my work has been distributed to these new joiners. It's become clear we have too many people and not enough work. However, I'm thinking my employer cannot surely do another round of redundancies 3 or so months later? I was hoping I would be safe for 2-3 years.

Cost of building two houses in Greater London?

I know I can only receive incredibly vague answers....

Based in Hillingdon / Zone 6 / close to the Elizabeth Line

Someone on my parents road has won planning permission to knock down a bunaglow and build 2 semi detached houses.

The houses are 3 bedrooms, with 1 room being in the attic. 3 bedroom semi detached houses sell for approx £500k to £600k, and this one will sell towards the lower end as the houses are fairly small and the road has limited parking.

According to google, it will cost £600k to £800k to build the houses. Assuming the midpoint of £700k, the guy is looking at a return of £300k?? Not bad. He purchased in 2000 for £80k.

Have you ever lost all motivation at work?

My company merged my division with another, resulting in a mammoth new division. They were also very open that there would be redundancies as a result; it's something that has been repeated several times at all staff audios.
The redundancies will be announced this month and I have lost all motivation to do anyone work. Unless I am being chased by someone, I just don't feel like doing the work. I don't know if I am going to impact or not, but the motivation has completely gone.

Anyone faced anything similar

How do I get rid of these roots

I've got 7+ shrubs on one side of my garden
I've spent the best part of today chopping of the stems and branches only to discover the previous owners had cut these to their stumps but they've just re sprouted.

The stumps are covered weeds and fooliage, so it's very difficult to see them. Ideally, I would like to run a lawn mover over the entire area. any ideas how I can remove them otherwise they will just regrow. I don't really want to have to dig and physically remove the roots because it will take so much time.

Jobs being offer to contractors whilst redundancies are going to be announced

I work for a FTSE 100 company, with a fairly robust HR process and union involvement.

Last year my division was merged with another one, and senior management made is clear there would be redundancies. They didn't indicate how many but given the size and duplication it was assumed redundancies would be on a large scale.
We were given a date of April for announcements but it's been pushed back to July.
However, I've since discovered that a number of temp workers in offshore locations (Philippines and indonesia) have been offered perm roles.

My assumption was that we'd all be placed in a pool, (12 people applying for 6 roles etc) based on location, grade, role etc but it seems as the company is hiring offshore perms, they'll seek to move as many roles offshore as possible.

Is this legal? Has anyone been through something similar.

6000 transactions later

I ran some analysis on my portfolio and after 2 years and 3 months; almost 6000 transactions (buy and sell); and holding 60+ shares / eft, I've made approx £150 more than if I'd invested in VRWL.

Regret selling RobinHood

I sold HOOD at a loss because it was in the red for months and the rest of my portfolio was performing so much better. Since selling, HOOD has preformed and the price is now 60% higher than my sale price.

How do you keep investing in a company that's in the red? Is it all about having absolute conviction in the stocks? Most are investing for a quick return.

What sort of careers / income would you need to send your kids to a top private school?

Someone I know went to Eton in the mid 90s. His father was a GP and his mother was a secretary, and I remember him saying that there were a fair amount of middle class students at Eton, whose parents were Head Teachers, Dentist, accountants and lawyers at smaller local firms.

However, with fees upwards of £63k, what sort of professions will be able to send their kids to a broad school like Eton. Assuming 2 or 3 kids, you need to shell out £130k from your take home pay.
Is it family money or is it partners at investment banks, city law firms etc who can afford to pay such fees.
With the fees, I am guessing you need the house, the holidays, the lifestyle etc.

Silver or gold as a safe haven?

I have a small amount of silver that Inpurchased as a safe haven but . I think I'd be better off selling it and purchasing gold instead.

The price of silver is very volatile and does seem to be correlated with equities. It's down 3% today for example, and I am not sure it'll provide any sort of protection in a crash.

I wish to simplify and rest

What do you think of my pie? I want to simplify.. is
there a single eft that would invest in smaller stocks that are growing? I don't want a world tracker because that is going to be overwhelmingly the mag 7, instead I want something that would invest in high risk , high reward small caps.

Am I being picky or would you insist this is corrected?

Sorry, I know this isn't a DIY question, I had my patio redone and I am unhappy with the quality of work. There is a difference of 1.5 cm to 2 cm between the paving slabs, which seems untidy. Should I ask the builder to correct these? We have plenty of paving slabs,,,, was promised and order enough slabs for 30sq m but they've done 20 sq m.

Would you be concerned living next door to a HMO?

I was wondering if house buyers would be concerned if the attached house (in a semi detached) was a HMO? Also, the house opposite is a HMO.

Would this make any difference to your decision to make an offer or not?

I mean actual work? It seems like he doesn't do much work. In fact, it looks like none of the guys do much work, even the soldiers. I would guess the soldiers are doing 3-4 hours per day and caps are doing half that. It's a pretty easy life and it's obvious why is attracts a certain type of person..
