How do you track grip endurance, neck work, and conditioning outside of mat time?

Hey all,

I'm working on a training app and before building anything further, I

want to understand how BJJ folks actually track their strength/conditioning

work today — not rolling or technique, but the accessory stuff: grip

endurance, neck bridges, forearm/grip strength, that kind of thing.

A few questions if you have a minute:

* Do you track grip endurance, neck training, or similar accessory work

at all? How (spreadsheet, app, notebook, nothing)?

* What would actually be useful to track — hang time, reps/load, specific

benchmarks, something else?

* Do you compare your numbers to training partners/other people, or is it

purely personal?

* What's missing or annoying about how you currently track this stuff

(if at all)?

Not pitching anything, genuinely trying to understand the problem first.

Happy to share what I learn back with anyone interested.

Thanks!

How do you track your climbing training / progress?

Hey all,

I'm working on a training app and before building anything further, I want to understand how climbers actually track their sessions and progress today.

A few questions if you have a minute:

  • How do you currently log your training (spreadsheet, app, notebook, nothing)?
  • What do you actually want to track — volume, specific movements, grades, strength benchmarks, something else?
  • Do you compare your numbers/progress to other climbers, or is it purely personal?
  • What's missing or annoying about the tools you use now?

Not trying to pitch anything here, genuinely trying to understand the problem before assuming I know the answer. Happy to share what I learn back with anyone interested.

Thanks!

Built an early prototype for tracking niche strength training (grip, neck, specialty exercises) — looking for feedback

I'm building CRUX, a tracker for the exercises mainstream fitness apps never

really cover well — grip/finger strength, neck training, and other specific

movements that don't fit into a standard "bench/squat/deadlift" app. Not

targeting one single sport — aiming at climbers, combat athletes (MMA,

wrestling), and anyone doing specialized training outside a typical program.

A ranked strength social app already exists and does well (Liftoff). Rather

than compete head-on on breadth, I'm going deeper on the niche movements it

doesn't calibrate for — a leveling system based on bodyweight ratio, and

the ability to compare your numbers with others instead of just logging a

number nobody can benchmark against.

Link: https://crux-app-theta.vercel.app/

Heads up on where it's at: very early, rough prototype. Only a handful of

exercises implemented so far, and the design is close to non-existent — I

built just enough to test the core mechanic before investing more time.

What I'd love feedback on:

- Is this a real gap, or are people already tracking this fine with a

notebook/spreadsheet and don't need an app for it?

- Does targeting climbers + combat athletes + "niche trainers" broadly make

sense, or should I pick one group and go deep first?

- Would this be worth paying for eventually, or does it only work as a free

tool?

Not selling anything, genuinely just trying to validate before I keep

building — including "this isn't needed" is useful feedback. Thanks to

anyone willing to try it and share thoughts.

Built a very rough first version of a grip/finger strength tracker — would you be into something like this?

Hey everyone,

I'm working on a side project: an app to track the exercises regular fitness

apps completely ignore — grip, fingers, that kind of thing. Right now it's

a really early, rough first version with only about 3 exercises in it (dead

hangs, hangboard, block pinch), just enough to test the core idea: a level

system based on your bodyweight ratio, and being able to compare your

numbers with other climbers.

Link: https://crux-app-theta.vercel.app.

Don't expect much yet — it's barely functional and the design is basically

non-existent. I built just enough to know if the concept is worth pushing

further before adding more exercises, cleaning it up, etc.

What I'd love to know:

- Does tracking this stuff even sound useful to you, or do you not see the

point?

- With only 3 exercises in there, does the leveling system feel right so far?

- What exercises would you want added first if this were to go further

(neck training, forearm, something else)?

- Would this be the kind of thing you'd pay a small subscription for down

the line, or does it only make sense free?

Not trying to sell anything, genuinely just want to know if this is worth

continuing before I put more time into it. Thanks to anyone willing to poke

around for a couple minutes.

Anyone else struggle with where to put a used condom before reaching the trash?

This is a weirdly specific thing but it bugs me every time. Once you're done, you're kind of just holding this thing, and whatever room you're in, the trash can is never right there. So you end up walking across the room with it, and half the time something drips or it just feels awkward to deal with.

I've been trying to figure out if there's already a good solution for this (a little discreet pouch, a built-in compartment, anything), but I haven't found anything that actually solves it well. Is this just a me problem, or does this bother other people too? How do you personally deal with it?
