$2.00 thrift find

Currently on a road trip, taking highway 101 from Washington State all the way through Oregon. Been looking for another copy of the book, to give to my brother. Haven’t had any luck with finding the book, but I did find this DVD for $2.00. Kinda hoping the Airbnb has a dvd player so I can give it a watch. I only recently read LD for the first time, just finished Dead Man’s Walk, and am about 100 or so pages in to Comanche Moon. Figured I’d read LD again, after, and then finish the series.

I’m kinda sad. I feel like I read them all too fast! I finished both LD and DMW in less than a week. I guess I can take comfort in the fact that I can reread LD whenever I want too. One thing I especially like about Lonesome Dove is I can just open it up to a chapter, any chapter, really, and read and be satisfied.

Anyways, looking forward to watching this for the first time!

Found today at goodwill

Numbered 1/25 and signed by the artist

A lithograph by artist Isadore Weiner, apparently commissioned by the US government? From my brief research he did different works related to the depression.

Not sure if this is the real deal, but figured it would look good on my wall!

Anyone more familiar with this artist?

Seemed like a good find

I don’t know much about art, but I do like gardening. Did some brief research when I got home, and this appears to be a decent find! Either way, it will look good hanging up on my wall!

Another King Adjacent Book

I’ve been a big reader for all of my life. Time and again I’ve been told I need to read this book, by personal friends, and strangers on the internet. I also know it is one of King’s favorite novels. I hadn’t been putting it off, I just tend to read what’s available at local thrift stores or the public library.

Recently my son and I have taken to walking our neighborhoods, and I have a few little lending libraries I like to check out, and drop my own finished books off at.

A few days ago I found this, and figured it was finally time. I knew absolutely nothing about it, just that it was a cowboy book, a western, and people who’ve read it, love it.

I’ve been completely captured by this book, and can’t believe how much it has glued me to my reading chair. Every spare second I’ve had I’ve been reading it. I cooked dinner with the damned thing in my hand, tonight!

If you haven’t read it yet, I highly recommend it. Much like the works of Stephen King, it’s really about the human spirit, our struggles, our fears, and our triumphs. Don’t be like me, don’t put this one off!

I know next to nothing about jewelry. My wife bought this ring for me some years ago at an antique store, and I was curious if anybody could identify this mark, or the maker. Thank you!

When talking about how to beat maga, Maher and guests talked about having to beat them at the ballot box, Maher brought up Denzel Washington in Training Day, and how the neighborhood turned on him. Anyways, made me laugh because doesn’t Denzel the get killed by a bunch of Russian gangsters at the end? lol.

My toddler and I like to walk our neighborhood, which has several little libraries. Often times I will bring some books along to drop off at the different boxes, to clear shelf space for my wife and I. Rarely do I find anything of interest to me, but today I feel like I got lucky.

I’ve never heard of Musashi, but I’ve been wanting to check out Japanese authors, and the first couple of paragraphs caught my attention.

I have read some Asimov in the past and liked what I read, so that seemed like a no brainer.

I’ve been told that I need to read Loansome Dove by a handful of people, and see it recommended all the time, so I thought, now is the time.

As someone with limited space, I don’t know that I’ll hang on to these, long term, but I look forward to reading them.

Since the weather has warmed up in my neck of the woods I’ve been playing outdoors more frequently. I do a lot of finger style stuff, and noticed a few days ago that when I play outside, I’ll get an audience of little birds that will sit on my fence and sort of chirp along to whatever I am playing. It’s become a sort of ritual, I suppose. I don’t know much about avians, but it cracks me up, and I like to think they must enjoy it.

Am I actually just pissing them off? 😂

Been super curious about these titles for a while. I grew up playing a lot of resident evil, back in the 90s. I look forward to playing these after my Onimusha 2 revisit. Hope everyone had a good weekend!
