I’m looking at moving cross country, and a convoy of 3 cars, driving PNW to Florida
I’m interested in advice on mobile GMRS units I can put in moving vans to keep in touch for a week of driving.
Cost is a factor; chances are they’ll be sold when journey is done.
I have GMRS license.
I have several hand held GMRS radios already but would opt to buy some for semi permanent mounting in U-Haul vans for convenience

Lost power, and now the cpu load (normal was 0.3-0.8) is now sitting at 2.5-4 and disk light is constant on.
GUI very slow, and fails to draw screen elements.

If I stop packet engine, all goes back to normal.
I reset the reporting db once and it seemed better for a couple hours.

I have Zenarmor in bypass mode now and the box is behaving.

Anyone else seen this?

I have a wood deck where it all lives..

I’m concerned that the coal/wood burning in the hopper on the side could allow sparks and embers to drop out and down on to the wood deck.. something that would worry me if I were to turn my back on it for extended periods of time

So the question; does embers drop out, ever, and how do owners in same situation prepare/mitigate

Looking for recommendations for a known easy lcd display to show home assistant stuff
Tried and failed to get a Elecrow display so looking for something very simple and doesn’t require very much YAML coding and special skills

I found this 288A (‘94?) and now I am not sure it has the right globe. Globe is marked G-131 is that the correct one? It seems a tad small (diameter) but maybe that is to allow minor expansion with heat

Just got new Escort Max, with the DriveSmarter app. In the Seattle area, the majority of speed limits are incorrect in the app. Astronomical number of them are simply wrong. To the point where it cannot be relied on.
Contrast with Google Maps, which are mostly correct.
Who is the supplier of the DriveSmarter maps?

Tried DD-WRT once years ago on a Tp-link C7 v2
Mostly failed. Moved to OpenWrt and sure glad I did.
Check on this subreddit and forums occasionally and nothing but validation that I made right choice. What a dumpster fire DD-WRT is, still, after all this time. My god.

Only good thing is the iPhone app, that I liked. Guess not made by the ddwrt team :D

Looking to get a new one, and saw there’s a matching camera option. I do need a camera.

Question: does the Escort camera video include speed? Not always great. If there’s an option to download video that show speed when I’m legal and maybe not show my speed if it’s not to my advantage?
