Good Scores!

Total price: $50.00 for both, 50'S 413E and 58' 252A. The 252A will need to be completely torn down and gone through. Both of them fire, but the 252A isn't burning correctly. The 413E just fires right up, no issues.

Why does it puff like that? It stopped after a minute or so.

I replaced the generator and it was puffing like this after a minute or two and lasted about a minute. I think the valve is bad too. You have to turn it all the way on to light it and when you shut it off it takes a while to go out completely.

1929 Coleman Quick-Lite – Is this an original green #307 ribbed shade?

I recently picked up this Coleman Quick-Lite table lamp. The fount is stamped 9 12 (December 1929).
I’m trying to determine whether the green ribbed glass shade is an original Coleman #307 shade or a later reproduction/replacement.
The shade is approximately 10” in diameter with a 4.5” top opening. It is green over white/cased glass. There is a very small chip along the lower rim that exposes the white glass underneath.
I found modern reproduction 10” green ribbed shades, but the lower rim/profile appears noticeably thicker on the reproduction than on mine.
The shade holder is also pictured in case that helps determine whether the shade and holder are period-correct to the lamp.
I’d really appreciate opinions from anyone familiar with original Coleman #307 shades. Are there specific molding, rim, glass construction, color, or dimensions that distinguish an original?

Thank you!

1972 dual mantle 220F for museum demo

Used my dad's (RIP) old 1972 220F to demonstrate how to fuel and light a vintage gas pressure lantern at a local "family campout" that drew over 500 visitors (to the campout, not the demo; we had about 20 folks watching). I walked the small crowd through the process and function, but when asked by a 5-year-old how the "things" (mantles) get so bright, I paused and then said, authoritatively... "magic".

I need a name.

I name a few of my lanterns, mainly the ones I like the best, or that mean something to me. What do I name the ugliest lantern ever made? Looking for some good names for this thing.

$7 tag -> 1/2 off blue tags -> 15% off for "thrift store day" = $2.97

Walked by this in the store last week, because i have other methods of caffeination when camping and it takes up a lot of space. but i figured for $3 I could find room for it!

Guidance Needed Please.

Picked this beauty up for free on buy nothing. Need help tracking down a modern hose/regulator and control dials. I'd love to give to my adult child who is sarting a collection of camping items of his own.

First time out

Stove is working brilliantly considering it's 9 months older than I am. Unfortunately the lantern is having a bit of a fit, I think there might be contaminated fuel.

Image Bots?

My stack of yard sale finds are just for attention. But just a warning to others on in the last 6 days two different users have used images of my stove to farm karma. To me not the biggest of deal but it's also not hard to post your own stuff.

Frustrated. 228F won’t start now

Edit: SOLVED - topped off with fuel. Live and learn

For those of you who haven’t seen my recent posts about this lantern, TLDR; it’s been mildly rebuilt - stripped down to fount, worked out the metering spring / cleaned pickup tube, cleaned out air tubes / burn tubes, replaced generator. Did not disassemble any packing / valve assemblies. Got it to run just fine for one night.

Now revisiting tonight, I gave it a fresh 35 pumps and heard fuel come out but would not light. Flared up briefly and dim but did not stay lit. Tried priming the generator with a propane torch which started it for a few seconds and then nothing else.

I’m sort of at a loss, at the moment. I don’t want to have to take it apart again, and I don’t know what could be causing the change in function. Maybe it’s possible a spider web has been build inside over the past week or two, but doubtful. What would you do?

New to me 425D — date code??

Just picked up my first Coleman stove at an estate sale, $30. Took it home and started right up! But I don’t see any date code anywhere on it that I’m used to like on lanterns. Can someone help me understand what the painted numbers mean under the burners? Thanks

COLEMAN 518 B Restore

I just got one of these. I need to do 2 things from what I can tell. First, is it worth it? Do they heat up a tent, pop up trailer ? If so, I need a wick and that asbestos infused fabric matting that covers the dome. Can a standard coleman lantern work? And for that matting over the dome, is there an alternative option , like pink insulation or other? The mesh dome is hard to find and costs more than I paid for it . The shipping is more than it cost :) Thanks

Found a scarce 519 Coleman white gas heater

Found at a local second hand shop, not eager to try it out after reading about possible gasket leaks but maybe I'll have someone look at it. More than likely will sell to buy other antiques though.

I'm not sure exactly why they command a high price on eBay, it must be for the looks because that's what caught my eye when purchasing.

Found this in our family's cabin....

i was cleaning out a side closet in our family's A cabin up in northern ontario and buried under piles of insulation and mouse poop was a 1948 model 220D. Now I screamed for two reasons.... 1. a mouse literally ran across my foot... And 2. me being a Coleman guy this cameI to view. I've been going to this cabin with my wife for almost 25 years (I married into it) and I've been through every inch of that cabin.... This was basically buried under the foundation I just never saw it. My father in law saw me holding it when I emerged from the tool closet and said ..."oh Uncle so and so used that back in the 60's for light when we would run out of propane." I should note the camp was founded in 1925 and is about 5 miles from the nearest electrical pole.....

Well a week of slowly cleaning, removing rust, high temp. Clear coating the basket, and polishing....it looks great!!!
