Frustrated. 228F won’t start now

Edit: SOLVED - topped off with fuel. Live and learn

For those of you who haven’t seen my recent posts about this lantern, TLDR; it’s been mildly rebuilt - stripped down to fount, worked out the metering spring / cleaned pickup tube, cleaned out air tubes / burn tubes, replaced generator. Did not disassemble any packing / valve assemblies. Got it to run just fine for one night.

Now revisiting tonight, I gave it a fresh 35 pumps and heard fuel come out but would not light. Flared up briefly and dim but did not stay lit. Tried priming the generator with a propane torch which started it for a few seconds and then nothing else.

I’m sort of at a loss, at the moment. I don’t want to have to take it apart again, and I don’t know what could be causing the change in function. Maybe it’s possible a spider web has been build inside over the past week or two, but doubtful. What would you do?

New to me 425D — date code??

Just picked up my first Coleman stove at an estate sale, $30. Took it home and started right up! But I don’t see any date code anywhere on it that I’m used to like on lanterns. Can someone help me understand what the painted numbers mean under the burners? Thanks

Showing off Shadow 2 CGW Pro package SAO trigger

One of you DMd me asking to show the trigger creep take up reset etc. on the SAO shadow. Here it is. 100% worth it IMO. Very short take up and just a hint of squish through the break. Overall a very crisp job and probably be hard pressed to touch a nicer setup under 2k. Also, a video of a stock P01 is the closest thing I have to compare the stock shadow trigger to

Update on my 228F (first lantern)

For those of you who commented on my previous posts, I got my F/A valve out of the fount and stretched the spring a bit. Carb cleaned out the air tubes and made sure the burner screens were clear. Reassembled and running now, seems the surging is much less now, and the sides are burning more even, though one side is still brighter than the other. Overall, this has been a fun project, and getting the lantern cleaned up (paint and rust wise) has been very satisfactory. Happy to have this as an operable piece of new (no me) equipment. Thanks guys.

Update and questions about my first lantern (brightness and surging)

So I’ve replaced the generator and I’m burning in fresh Coleman #21 mantles, with fresh fuel. However, one side is burning noticeably brighter than the other, and neither one is very impressive. In the video you’ll notice some surging, and can probably hear it too.

Does this mean that a full rebuild/cleaning must be in order?

This lantern is a ‘71 and I have no idea when it was last ran before my acquisition, although there was still some sour fuel left in it. I’m assuming the reason it was retired, maybe in the last 10-15 years, was because the burner tube threads were stripped out on one side of the burner tube manifold, so I replaced that part from a donor.

Is the surging something to be concerned about, or could I just run it as is and be safe?

I haven’t touched anything other than the generator assembly, though it doesn’t seem to be leaking and holds pressure well. My ‘51 I got at the same time seems to be leaking from somewhere below the fuel valve assembly, so that will be the next work in progress.

Edit: it doesn’t look like I can post a video here, but I’m sure you all know what I mean by surging.

Is this 2017 f150 a reasonable buy?

Marketplace description:
2017 F150 XLT 4x4
5.0 6 speed
118k miles clean title
Everything works perfect
Truck runs and drives amazing
6” lift with 22” rims
Truck has apple car play, power seats, seat warmers and sliding rear window
All maintenance has been done on time

$22k obo

I’m in the market for a truck of this year and power/drivetrain. $20k would be more in line with what I’m looking to spend. I would like to sell the wheels and tires and go to stock size and potentially get rid of the lift.

Is this a good buy?

Description in pic 5. Asking $17,300.
Im interested in a truck 1.) for improved leg room and comfort on longer drives (I’m 6’2 currently driving a q50 and feeling cramped) 2.) for bed utility as I often ask to borrow my dad’s pickup. I’d also prefer the crew cab for storage and passengers

I’m primarily looking at the 5.0 for long term reliability and ease of maintenance. I doing believe the cost offset in gas mileage will be too significant to what I get now in the 3.7

I’m looking for feedback from owners of the 15-17 model years to tell me if my desires are in line with this listing

Budget < $20,000

Location for reference is CenCal

New Kimber and CCW qual

Passed my live fire test today, very satisfied. Star of the show was my new cds9. Shoots like a dream, and I think I’m most accurate with it out of all my potential carry pistols. P01, cajunized PCR, xmacro (which was previously my best performer), and the Kimber. This target has all four pistols on it and the stragglers were mostly the CZ. Still experimenting with different sights on them.

It was my first time shooting the cds and I’m very happy with how it does. 2 FTFs in the first few shots, not surprising given how steep the feed ramp is. But it worked its way smooth through the next 100 rounds. Continued to get good target groupings at 10 yards, and that was the end of my session today. So far I’m very pleased with the new piece and will be looking for a holster if anyone has recs.

Carbon and carbon wash day

Normally don’t wear my PRX to work since I’m always hyper-conscious of bumping and spilling things on it, but today I did, and got a compliment on it. Then decided to try a touchless car wash. Any Fini fans out here?

Not seeing enough love for the CF PRX

I certainly understand cf isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but it sure is cool to look at. And a little tricky to photograph. It doesn’t see a lot of wrist time but it is always a pleasure
