Job opportunities

Hi everyone! 🤍

I’m currently based in Australia and looking to relocate, where I’m seeking a full-time opportunity with a private individual, business owner, executive, family or private household.

I have 4+ years of experience across management, community support and working with children and families. Through my management experience, I’ve developed strong skills in organisation, leadership, coordinating staff and day-to-day operations, problem-solving, communication, administration and managing competing priorities.

Alongside this, I have extensive experience supporting children, young people and families, including children in care, complex behaviours and additional support needs. I’m comfortable taking initiative, handling sensitive information, coordinating appointments and activities, communicating with professionals and families, and providing reliable day-to-day support.

I’m open to a variety of roles, including:

✨ Personal Assistant / Executive PA
✨ Private PA to a Business Owner or Executive
✨ Lifestyle Assistant
✨ Family Assistant
✨ Private Household Assistant
✨ Nanny / Governess-style roles
✨ Travelling Personal Assistant / Family Assistant
✨ Family Office / Administrative Support
✨ Other suitable private or professional roles

I’m particularly interested in positions where I can become a trusted, long-term member of an employer’s team or family, whether that involves managing personal or business-related tasks, organising schedules and appointments, coordinating travel, handling errands and logistics, supporting children and family life, or helping a busy household or individual run smoothly.

If you know of anyone hiring or can recommend a contact, please comment, send me a message or tag someone who may be able to help. 🤍

Advice needed on contract clauses

Hi everyone, I’m hoping to get some advice from anyone who has built with Ideal Homes WA or anyone familiar with building contracts.
Yet to sign my contract, but after going through the terms and conditions more closely, there are a few clauses I’m unsure about. I understand some of these may be standard in WA building contracts, but I’d appreciate opinions on whether anything stands out as a concern.

These are the clauses I’m questioning:
1. Defects liability period (Clause 23.3)
The contract states the defects liability period is 4 months from Practical Completion.
The builder is required to fix defects that arise from faulty workmanship/materials, but the contract excludes things like:
hairline cracks in plaster
paint defects
normal timber movement/shrinkage
damage caused by the owner
My concern is whether 4 months is considered reasonable, given some issues may not become obvious until later.

2. Independent inspections (Clause 9.5.4)
The contract allows me to arrange an independent inspection, however it states:
“A $1,500 variation fee may be applicable at the Builder’s discretion.”
Has anyone experienced this fee being charged? Is this normal for builders, or something to be cautious about?

3. Builder extensions of time (Clause 17)
The builder can extend the construction timeframe for delays caused by things including:
authorised variations/extras
suspension of works
weather conditions
disputes with neighbours
strikes or labour issues
shortages/unavailability of labour or materials
events outside the builder’s control (force majeure)
The builder must notify the owner of the reason for the delay and extra days required.
My concern is how broad this clause is and whether it gives the builder too much flexibility with completion dates.

4. Delay compensation (Clause 10.3)
If the builder does not complete within the required timeframe (without a valid extension), the contract provides compensation of $65 per business day.
For anyone who has built recently, is this considered reasonable?

5. Potential price increases (Clauses 13.6 & 27.4)
The contract says the builder cannot increase the contract price simply because labour or material costs increase.
However, price increases can occur in certain situations, including:
changes in legislation/taxes
certain conditions of the contract not being fulfilled
delays relating to conditions outside the builder’s responsibility
If the increase is more than 5% of the contract price, the owner may have termination rights.
Has anyone had Ideal Homes apply these clauses or request a price increase?

6. Inspection notice requirements (Clause 32.2 & Clause 9.5)
The contract states:
owner must give 48 hours notice before inspecting the works
independent inspectors require 10 business days notice
Is this normal across builders?

7. Practical Completion process (Clauses 19.3–19.8)
The builder can proceed with Practical Completion even if the owner cannot attend the inspection.
Also, if the owner does not notify the builder of outstanding matters within 5 business days of the Practical Completion notice, the works are considered practically complete.
Has anyone had issues with this process?

8. Builder security rights (Clauses 30.1–30.6)
The contract allows the builder to potentially lodge a caveat/security interest over the owner’s property if money is owed under the contract.
I understand this may be standard, but would like opinions on whether this wording is stronger than usual.

I’m just trying to understand what I’m agreeing to before construction starts.

Has anyone built with Ideal Homes recently? Did you experience:
price increases?
delays/extensions?
independent inspection fees?
issues during defects period?
Any advice would be appreciated 😊

First Homebuilder Advice Pt2

Hey everyone,
Just following up on my previous post about my house plans. I’ve taken a lot of the feedback on board, so if you haven’t seen the original, please refer back to it so you can compare the differences.
Since then, my builder has made the following changes:
✅ Added sliding robes to the bedrooms
✅ Widened Bedroom 2
✅ Removed the Bedroom 2 bathroom door
✅ Added 31c ceilings to the entry, living, kitchen and dining areas
One thing I’m still undecided on is the ensuite layout. I’m considering changing it to toilet → vanity → shower instead of the current layout. My current house is vanity → toilet → shower, and I don’t mind it, but I’m wondering if there’s a better option from a functionality or resale perspective. What are your thoughts?
With these updates in mind, is there anything else you would change or any red flags you’ve noticed before I lock everything in?
I have to sign my construction contracts very soon. This plan has gone through months of revisions, and I’ve completely started from scratch more than once. My land is titling next week, so I’m working within the builder’s timeframes and don’t want to risk losing it.
I’d really appreciate any final feedback before I commit. Thanks everyone! 😊

First Homebuilders Advice

Hey everyone,

A little while ago I posted my part-time floor plan and got some really helpful feedback. I’ve since worked with my builder/designer and they’ve made a number of changes based on those suggestions.

This is the updated version. There are still a few minor tweaks to be made:
• Sliding robes to the bedrooms
• Widen Bedroom 2
• Bedroom 2 bathroom door removed
• Extend the ensuite stone benchtop to meet the shower glass
• 31c ceilings to the entry, living, kitchen and dining areas

Compared to the original plan I posted, what do you think of this version? Is there anything you would still change or any red flags you’ve noticed before I finalise it?
I’d really appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

First Homebuilder Advice

Hey everyone,

I’m 20 and currently building my first home. It’s not meant to be my forever home, more of a milestone step for me and I’ve got the chance right now to make changes to the design with the builder before it’s locked in. I’m doing this solo and I’m still pretty new to all of this, so I’m trying to make sure I don’t make any rookie mistakes with the layout. I’d really appreciate any advice or things you wish you had done differently in your own builds.

So far I’m considering:

- Removing one bedroom and either keeping it as a 3-bedroom or turning that space into a smaller study / multi-purpose room instead and adding more space in living ?
- Kitchen layout: currently the fridge is placed between the stove and sink and rearrange it- what’s the most practical layout ?
- I’m planning to upgrade to higher ceilings in the main living areas.

What I’m mainly unsure about is how to prioritise space I’d ideally love a 4-bedroom home long-term, but I’m also thinking a more practical layout might be better (like 3 bedrooms + study or a larger living space), especially since this isn’t my forever home.

If anyone has suggestions on the overall
house plan that i’d not regret i’d really appreciate it 😊

TGV

Hey all,

I’m travelling on the TGV soon and I’ve seen the luggage rules say a maximum of 2 suitcases (90 × 70 × 50 cm each) plus 1 hand luggage.

I’m just wondering how strict they actually are with this? I’m thinking of taking 3 suitcases instead of 2, but I’m not sure if it will be an issue in reality or if they’re pretty relaxed about it.

Has anyone travelled with more than the allowed amount and had any problems?

Building House in Perth

Hi everyone, I’m after some genuine advice from anyone in WA who has dealt with building contracts.

I’ve recently signed a building contract for a house on land I’ve secured (the land is in my name). Titling is expected next month. I paid a $2k deposit at signing.

Formal finance approval has not yet been submitted or approved.

Since signing, we’ve been going through the planning and design stage, and I’m honestly becoming quite frustrated. The plans have already been revised around three times, and each version still has major practical issues that don’t work for me.

For example:

\* Bedroom design changed from sliding doors to wardrobes
\* Kitchen layout has the fridge positioned awkwardly between the cooktop and sink
\* Bedrooms reduced to around 2700mm and feel quite tight
\* 31c ceilings were removed
\* Overall layout doesn’t feel functional after getting second opinions
\* On a 400m² block, the design only uses just under 160m² of space

After seeking advice, I now understand that a 4x2 is more expensive to build than I initially expected. However, I feel the builder hasn’t been transparent from the beginning about what was realistically achievable within my budget. I made it clear I wanted a four-bedroom home, but I wasn’t properly advised on what that would mean in terms of layout, size, or compromises. Instead, I feel like I’ve been pushed to sign without fully understanding the limitations.

Each time I raise concerns, I’m told it will “increase cost price,” and I feel like I’m being pushed to just accept the current design rather than properly explore workable options. I’ve also been told things like I’m “still young” and “it’s my first home,” which hasn’t been helpful when I’m trying to make informed decisions.

At this point, I’m seriously considering not proceeding with the build, even if it means forfeiting the $2k deposit on a \~$360k build.

I’ve also been looking at Clause 14.2 in the contract, which says that if finance approval isn’t obtained in writing, either party may rescind the contract and the deposit is refunded (provided documents are returned). Since formal finance approval hasn’t been submitted yet, I’m trying to understand what my actual options are at this stage.

Has anyone been in a similar situation or knows what the usual process is if I decide not to proceed at this stage? And what costs I might realistically be up for?

Any advice would be really appreciated.

Baggage Advice

Hey everyone 👋

I’m from Australia and I’m a bit confused sorting out baggage for an upcoming Europe trip and was hoping someone might have experience with this.

I’ve booked with Ryanair, Eurowings, and Vueling, and the baggage rules are all a bit different:
Malta- Barcelona Vueling: 30kg checked bag allowance
Dublin- Faro Ryanair: 20kg + 10kg checked bag options
Nice - London Eurowings: 23kg + 10kg checked bag options or Scandinavian Airlines 23kg + 23kg checked bag (haven’t booked this leg yet)

I originally thought I could just combine or split my luggage more flexibly, but ive now been told each airline might have strict rules depending on how the allowance is set up.

So my current thinking is:
- Split everything into separate suitcases based on each airline’s limits and see if Vueling would allow flexibility to split the 30kg allowance into two bags
- See if Ryanair / Eurowings / Scandinavian would allow combining everything into one larger bag instead of multiple smaller ones

Has anyone been in a similar situation with these airlines? What did you do or what would you recommend? Any advice would seriously help 🙏

Bali Scooters

Hey everyone,

I’m heading to Bali soon and trying to figure out my transport situation. I'm really leaning towards renting a scooter for the freedom, but I want a realistic vibe check on what the roads are actually like.

For context: I’ve been driving a car for about 5 years and I’d say I’m a pretty confident driver with good road awareness. That being said, I know a scooter is a completely different beast and I have zero experience on two wheels.

I already have my international driving permit, home country license, and travel insurance that explicitly covers scooter riding (sorted all that out early just in case). How hard is it to actually pick up the physics of riding a scooter while simultaneously dealing with Bali traffic? Is it the kind of thing where I can practice on a quiet side street and get the hang of it, or am I asking for trouble?

Would love to hear from anyone who was a beginner rider when they went. Any tips you wish you knew beforehand would be amazing.

If it's a terrible idea, I'm totally fine just relying on Grab/Gojek, but wanted to get some real opinions first. Thanks in advance! 😊

Trying to gain weight but my appetite is dead 💀

Trying to gain weight but my appetite is literally non-existent 😭

I know a dietician can help with nutrition plans and all that, but my main issue isn’t what to eat… it’s actually being able to eat more in the first place.

I’ve heard there are things (not exactly “by the books”) that can increase appetite, but I’d honestly prefer to go through a doctor and do it properly. The weird part is my GP told me there’s no such thing as medications to increase appetite, but when I look it up, it says otherwise??

Has anyone here actually been prescribed something to help with appetite? If so, what was it and did it work? And did you just go through a normal GP or did you have to see a specialist?

Not looking for anything dodgy, just want to do this the right way and actually gain some weight 🥲

bali scooters

Hey,

Female here heading to Bali soon and I’m thinking about renting a scooter while I’m there. I already have my international driving permit, my licence and travel insurance that covers it.

I just wanted to ask how it actually is riding a scooter in Bali? Is it easy to pick up, and what was your experience like? Any tips or things you wish you knew before riding there would be amazing 🛵✨

I’ve been driving for about 5 years and I’d say I’m a very confident driver, but I know scooters are a totally different thing. So I definitely want to make sure I understand it properly and feel comfortable before I commit to riding around and of course, if it doesn’t feel safe/worth it, I’ll just stick to Grab/Gojek instead 😊

Any advice would be really appreciated!!
