Is it normal to experience very noticeable heat when unscrewing an E27 LED bulb from a ceiling light fitting at the base only (the screw part)? Just had new light fittings installed and are noticing this....

Solar Battery and Off Peak HWS

Hey everyone,

Have just had solar and battery installed. Noticed my HWS is on an off-peak switch on my switchboard. I can see in my solar+battery app load from around 11pm and on and off throughout the night consistent with the HWC power draw. Is it even worth getting it moved over to a timer contactor? Ive just been quoted around 400$ for this work.

Water Hammer

Got some water hammer sounds in my place. It is in a villa complex - free standing villas.

First place I noticed it was when I turned the bathroom mixer tap off. Have since replaced the cartridge and is largely solved.

Second place was the washing machine. There is a jarring sound in the pipes in the walls when the washing machine pump stops filling. I have put a water hammer arrestor on the tap and the problem continues.

I measured my water pressure at a few points around the property and it doesn't exceed 350kPa. So I presume this isn't the problem.

Additionally, every now and then I hear the sound when no taps or appliances (besides possibly the hot water system filling? But I cant verify this) are being used around the house...

What are my options now

Samsung Aircon

Just wanted to get an appreciation for whats wrong with my aircon and now much it would cost to repair. See below a quick description of what happens: When I switch on heat mode, the outdoor fan runs, what I think is the compressor buzzes, audible thud/click around 6 minutes in, then both compressor stops and 30 seconds later the fan stops. At no point do we get airflow inside.

Solar quote in Sydney

Hey

Just been quoted 13k for a 6.6kw solar system, 6kw inverter and 15kwh battery. Thoughts? What has anyone else paid for a similar system lately.

Cheers

Hot Water System Relief Valve Drain

Hi brains trust.

Currently my hot water systems relief valve is pointing a at the soil along my property edge. I have a drain roughly 1m from this location. Can I just connect a Shark bite PEX for example from the end of the copper tube to route it to the drain?
