Some thoughts of a nearly 50 year old academic. Read it with some reason.

Grew up in Ulta pradesh in the 90s. Younger brother in UKG came home repeating ^hut .. seems he learnt it in riksha to school, from elder school boys. Parents changed his riksha. Then after some years, landline missed calls used to come and if female answered, it was met with aunty aapki * hut chahiye.by boys. Later on a teen girl aged 12/13 applied for a quiz in newspaper. When she won a prize, her address was published in the same news paper. Then few postcards came to her house filled with sexual slurs. Not to withhold that she got a beating of her life for no fault of hers from family members. Occasionally females were called ^ andis by female elders if they misbehaved, didnt act good when on periods or talked to boys. All this was hushed up as something not to brought up in public.

Fast forward 10/15 years, as an academic, I keep on hearing this slurs of bhainhod and matherhod being bandied across male colleagues and academics in an IIT located in northern state. Males rolling their tongues and throwing about these female centric gaalis with great relish.

Now my second generation students use slurs like ^andi rona and *andies at a drop of a hat. Even young iit female students in my family. My mom is aghast. Shout out to the awkward goat for normalising this word for females.

My question is that if we are not bothered by this language used by boys, men, uncles, traffic, delivery persons, why are we so bothered that now young females use the same gaalies? This was bound to happen. Gen Z is not gutter generation for using it, they were taught by the people elder to them and I am proud that now people are taking notice. Different rules shouldn’t be applicable to boys or girls.. why not controlling your men to not use female centric gaalies?

Suddenly everyone is affronted that how come a 15/25 year old XX use such gaalies.. were u all sleeping when guys used it all these years? Where was ur morality then? Witch-hunting girls and females: becoz they are soft targets.shameful goons….Happy that the younger female gen is not ashamed of these gaalies but are giving it back in the same coin.

Feeling frustrated with the SIR drive. I was a student in 2002 who never voted then moved to USA. Came back to India recently. I fail to understand why Adhaar was implemented in first place if it’s not proof of anything? My Bangladeshi and Nepali helpers saying they paid 5000/- fees for getting Indian Adhaar card in past years. Now the government wants us to fish out our family voting records from 2002? When did voting become a proof for state citizenship? In Karnataka, no schemes benefit if family not residing in 2002.. just implement dual citizenship then? Everyone knows illegal immigrants have Adhaar ids.. only recently they started not issuing fresh Adhaar to 18 plus. When it comes to paying taxes, the govt will have all the info of all my bank accounts but for govt schemes, onus is on me to provide family roots from 20 years ago? Nonsense. I don’t know why people are not taking it up..

Ordered a Wonderchef nutri blend mixer grinder on 16 May. Prepaid. Delivery was supposed to happen 21 May. Everyday at 9.30 pm, the shadowfax person gives a missed call. On calling back, doesn’t pick up. Then status is updated as delivery unsuccessful. Chatted with Nykaa support to cancel my order and refund. They assured yes. But nevertheless the shadowfax people keep doing this charade of missed calling. Not picking up, not delivering, not coming and not returning item to warehouse. Cheats.
