This was a commissioned piece, the person who requested this piece had a ruff idea of what they wanted in their head. After discussing and sharing some images with me, I did a 10-minute sketch and they were delighted with the idea and gave the go-ahead.
This was my first lord of the rings creation. Spent about 30 hours plus making this. Looking back there is much I would change but I'm still very happy with the result.
I'm making mediaeval manuscript creations all inspired from middle earth. This is just to help keep me focused.
My experiments with colour are now coming together. I didn't expect adding colour to be so difficult. The insular colour palette is very difficult to tame.
It has taken me a long time to get to this point, but valuable lessons are being learned that I can apply in the future. It is so tempting to rush at this point and just get it done but I would not be doing this piece justice or myself
