Just some illustrations to do next. Then some touching up will be needed and then I'm finished!

Now the details are taking shape. The vine work in the capital T was far too small I did struggle and have some touching up to do. Overall I'm very happy with how this is turning out!

Using Kölner Miniatum and 24 carat 18g gold leaf.

Next is the colour!

Practicing a form of Textura that is moving towards Fraktur with pen manipulations. One I finish my current commission and project I will be studying Fraktur properly

My first go at paint! Raw pigment, gum Arabic and a little honey.

This is my final draft, just a rush sketch. Now I will be doing some calligraphy drills and practice to get in shape for writing on calf vellum.

Now it's time to line up, pencil in the capitals, then give the writing a go! I was going to do something far simpler, but it just started growing arms and legs. Now it's going to have gold gilding and is on Calf Vellum.....

Now I have my mindset on this, I am happy with the composition and colour choices. All of the writing and artwork is to scale but looks out of proportion on the A4 paper. On the final piece There will be larger margins to bring everything into proper proportion. Now I will do the bifolio on calf vellum! This is the last push of the project!

Just trying to get an idea of how it looks on the page. I think I will go one size down again with the nib. Then I will bring everything into the middle of the page. Then I will start playing with some marginalia and have fun!

Who do you start? I like to just get it out and see. Then I can make the second big step and improve the next go.

This was a commissioned piece, the person who requested this piece had a ruff idea of what they wanted in their head. After discussing and sharing some images with me, I did a 10-minute sketch and they were delighted with the idea and gave the go-ahead.
