This is one of my favorite songs on the album, and have tried to figure out what “if you do it well, you can go through it twice” means, but I cannot figure it out. Any guesses?
The guys are 333 years old! When will they turn 334? The KEXP set anniversary?
The guys light up now! I love the lights in Khn’s hat and Klek’s eyes, and I’ve heard that someone is controlling them backstage. Anyone know the tech they’re using? RC4 Wireless or City Theatrical maybe?
I know the teachers strike happened (only for a day?), and I was so happy to see them work towards better conditions- did anything come of this yet? Are there talks now in place, longer strikes being organized, etc….? I couldn’t find a lot online, and figured some teachers would be here with first hand experience.
I have been working in corporate for several years now. I was always so quick to play by the rules, and do my best to be agreeable because I always assumed everyone knew more than me, especially at the beginning.
The more that time has gone on, I realize people don’t really know what’s going on or what they are doing. I used to think that if I was told I was doing something I shouldn’t be, it was because I didn’t know any better, and that I needed to fix it before someone thought I was an idiot. I was terrified of being fired when I tried to go above and beyond.
It turns out, that roles are nebulous; that people make up rules about what you should and should not be doing as they go. I’ve been told opposite things by multiple managers, and not to take on extra responsibility when I clearly was capable. Turns out, they just didn’t know what to do with me.
Don’t be afraid to take ownership of what you are doing, and push back a little. You will be respected a lot more and it will offer you more opportunities in the long run.
