It’s an addiction!

Long-time Le Creuset owner. Mostly braisers, Dutch ovens & a couple of ceramic pieces. Saw this Staub vertical chicken roaster in Graphite Gray online and had to buy it. Just received a Petite French Oven in Graphite Gray for cooking rice. Now I’m lusting after a Circular Grill Pan in the same color. I find Staub’s majolica glazing beautiful! It’s an addiction!!

A community question

I’m looking for a community recommendation; the 1.5qt Petite French Oven/Rice Pot or the 2.5qt Demi French Oven/Rice Pot. It’s just the two of us most nights & I’m currently using a 30yr old 2.5qt All Clad Saucepan solely for this purpose. The All Clad works just fine (although beat up) but I want an upgrade. Will the ECI get hotter than my SS pan increasing the chance of burning my rice?I own lots of Le Creuset ECI, this would be my first black enameled interior. Which one would you choose & why!

Score! (update)

I took the Staub vertical ECI chicken roaster out today to make Sunday supper. I bought a small organic chicken at ALDI, stuffed it with garlic, lemons, onions, thyme & oregano. Simple seasoning with salt, pepper & olive oil. Placed it upside down on the spike on top of a bed of carrots, onions & potatoes. Convection baked @ 350° for 90 minutes. Crispy skin, moist meat, & veggies cooked in chicken juices & fat. Next time, I’ll season more generously or brine the chicken.

Score!

I saw this vertical ECI chicken roaster & I had to have it. I love rotisserie chicken but want to make my own healthier (organic) version. I also have a couple of whole ducks in my freezer & I can’t wait to use it to make Peking duck (NYT Cooking). It’s a discontinued style & Zwilling sells a black cast iron version for $199. This is ECI in Graphite. I searched eBay, Mercari, Poshmark & other internet retailers. I found a B (second) on Mercari with the box & used a 10% off coupon. I paid $106. I’m not into single use cookware & Staub has a bread recipe for it. I’m so happy!

They make me smile

Last weekend, I was in a shopping mall with my husband & walked into a LeCreuset store. I’d been jonesing on these for a while & picked them up for $29.99. I’m a mise en place home chef so this is an upgrade from the Pyrex custard cups I’ve been using. But I may give them to my daughter who has my cooking gene.

1st arrangement of the season

David Austin roses, peonies (my only two this year), branching sunflower, vinca major & lilac greens. The sunflower is my first and I “pinched” this one (and the rest of them). It was tall enough to include in my arrangement. Zone 7b, NJ.

I woke up this morning to this!

Do today’s buyers even understand how Posh works? I’m an Ambassador I with 5star ratings. I sell from my closet & my kids castoffs. Huh??? I’m sure it’ll get there by 5/14 but if it’s late, they’ll try to open a return case?

Walking thru my local store & looked in the sunglasses case. Cartier, Tom Ford and I dunno the others. I almost asked for an associate, but remembered my monies were earmarked for groceries!! This is the famous TJ Maxx in Cape May Court House, NJ!
