Small chip on brand new Staub

Hi all! I just bought my first Staub Cocotte (it was on sale), and I noticed this small chip on the rim.

Should I be worried about its performance? Is it likely to chip/flakе further over time?

I’m debating whether I should return it, but the store isn’t exactly close by. If this is purely cosmetic and won’t affect the performance or durability of the pot, I’d rather just keep it.

What do you guys think?

Looking for advice for my first Dutch oven

What would you recommend for my first and probably only Staub Dutch oven? (trying to keep my cookware minimal)

My main intention is to be able to cook for parties of 6-8 & batch cooking (for 2)

Main candidates: 28 cm round (6.7L/7.1qt) or 33cm oval (6.7L/7.1qt)

Notes:

- I already have a enamelled cast iron Kitchen aid 22 cm round pot that was gifted to me, I use it extensively for slow cooking mainly
- my home will have an induction hob with flexible zone (could be relevant in case of oval format)

Is this Authentic? Market place find

I came across these two pans on marketplace. I’m just wondering if they are authentic I couldn’t find too many pieces with this kind of design. Not sure if it’s an older style?

3.5 vs 4 QT Braiser

Hi!! I’m looking to purchase my first Staub piece and am stumped between the 3.5 QT braiser with glass lid or the 4 QT braiser. For reference I am less concerned about the braising lid as this will be mostly used for every day cooking (one pot meals, pasta dishes, etc). My main question is if those with the 3.5 QT feel that it’s too tight for a one pot meal and if I should move up to the 4 QT. The price difference is big so want to be sure I’m making the right decision here. Thanks!!

Advice on first Staub piece(s)

Preface: We are a vegetarian, 2-person home that uses an induction cooktop and a Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro. Main cookware includes two Solidteknics skillets and SS saucepans. We also have a Lodge 6qt enameled DO used for soups/frying. Our 11" skillet cannot fit in the Breville due to its handle, and the Lodge DO is technically too heavy for the oven's shelf.

I plan to purchase a braiser for acidic dishes, casseroles, and one pot meals, but can't decide between the 4qt or 3.5qt (glass isn't supposed to be used in the Breville, so that rules out the glass lid 3.5qt). Based on the measurements, I believe either size should fit in the Breville. Any advice on which one would be best?

I'm also debating on getting a smaller 4 or 5qt DO that can go in the Breville, but thinking it may be redundant if I get a braiser? Other than bread, are there any other dishes that I wouldn't be able to make in the braiser or the stove-only 6qt DO?

Dutch oven sizing question

Is there any benefit to getting a 7qt DO over something smaller like a 4qt if you are typically only cooking for 3-4 people. I know the rule of them 1qt per person but is there anything the 4qt cant really do a 7qt could?

Update: was shopping and found a Clarke and Davis 3qt for $15 so I can use that to get an idea on sizing before I buy into a Staub.

Is this acceptable for a factory first cocotte?

It also wobbles slightly on all flat surfaces, but this is my 3rd exchange and all have had this issue.

Definitely no sarcasm, but this Zwilling Large Mystery Box was exactly what I needed/wanted

Okay, maybe not another Zwilling Pro Santoku (that I got in the last box, with more paring knives), but I was seriously hoping for more storage containers than cordless appliances that would've just gone on ebay. They even sent another vacuum pump, though it's tempted to put that on ebay as well. The knife block is more than likely getting sold, as it's only got four slots and not incredibly useful, and the wood block on top smells like I just walked into Ikea. All in all, I'm happy with my purchase (which was $10 off when I redeemed some rewards points). And excuse the dirty table cloth. This is my ebay photo area, which has seen dozens of retro comptuers in the past three days.

Dutch oven ruined?

I made pasta in my dutch oven yesterday and after washing, it looks like this. Did the coating come off or does this look like food residue? It's a white dutch oven for reference.

I Guess Only the Instagram Influencers Get the Nice Pots

I purchased this 7 qt Staub Dutch Oven in Lilac directly from Zwilling as a new, first-quality product. After seeing so many beautiful Staub pots online, I was incredibly excited to finally buy one for myself.

What I received looked nothing like the pristine cookware I expected for nearly $300.

The first pot arrived with a significant enamel defect/chip on the rim and scuffing inside. I contacted Zwilling, sent photos, packed up the very heavy pot, returned it, and waited for a replacement.

Somehow, the replacement was worse.

It arrived with multiple visible scratches, scuffs and blemishes, and the knob wasn't even attached to the lid. The knob and hardware were loose inside the pot. Given the overall condition and presentation, it certainly appeared to me that I may have received a previously opened, handled, or returned pot. I obviously cannot know its history, but it did not look like the pristine, new, first-quality product I paid for.

And this was the replacement for an already defective pot. You would think someone might have inspected it before sending it.

I've been purchasing Zwilling products for more than 35 years. After two unacceptable pots, two returns, photographs, emails, phone calls, and weeks of inconvenience, Zwilling's solution was to tell me to send the second one back for a refund.

No meaningful attempt was made to restore my confidence in the brand or retain a customer of more than three decades.

Maybe the flawless Staub cookware I keep seeing online exists. Unfortunately, after two attempts, Zwilling couldn't manage to send one to me.

Is this cleanable or throw?

We had this for a while and didn’t have problems. However, I think this time, the lid was left closed after washing so rust was visible the next day. There was more before this photo was taken, and I boiled vinegar and water then scrubbed it with a safe sponge. It seems like a lot of it came off but I wanted to be sure it’s still safe to use once I clean it completely. When I smell it, it definitely smells like rust.

Factory Second Exchange

I just received my factory second cocotte and there are some voids on colored exterior enamel which was expected, but the rim of the lid of both the body and the lid have small chips in them and are rusting. I know factory seconds are all sales final, but I do not think chipped interior enamel and rust are intended as acceptable quality issues to sell as a factory second. I anticipate the blemished exterior colored enamel is what flagged this for a factory second and the legitimate chip and rust were an oversight or occurred during shipping. What is the likelihood that Staub will exchange this for another one?

My Zwilling XL Mystery box contents

Not gonna lie - I was actually hoping for some containers. I didn't know these Fresh & Seal containers were actually vacuum seal, but I got the vacuum pump, so it actually worked out. I lost all my food storage containers in my fire, so this was a win. Now do I think it's a good deal for $129 (I used some of my rewards points)? Not really. For maybe $99? Yes. All in all, I still think I fared okay. Also got a Zwilling Pro santoku and three Twin Grip paring knives, but it was primarily a "Welcome to vacuum sealing" starter kit.

Chip fix

Thrifted for 2 dollars today!!! Only problem is the small chip, I’ve tried using baking soda and a scrub as well as boiling with baking soda. Is the chip something I should worry about or just use as normal? Thank you!
