Realistic Abrasion Resistance 200x v Ultragrid
I was in some very rough country that required that I slide on my bottom down rocks. After repairing mouse damage (my belt pouch only does half zip now), I did a full inspection and found side pouch fabric had visibility worn thin with pinholes starting.
This is most certainly from heavy water bottles and sliding down the rocks.
Would having 200x realistically make any difference? Or is it too rough for ultralight fabrics?
side note, I used tenacious tape for repairs, should I use seam sealer?
Microbear attacked my Kakwa 55, is this repairable?
Big bummer, my like-new pack was attacked by a mouse. It chewed the way to the zipper. It still opens and closes. Is this repairable? If so how?
Is this a common bumblebee?
My 5 year old did not know this was behind his ear until it stung him twice then fell to his shoulder and stung twice more.
Is this just a bumblebee? It really sucks because I taught him that bees are cool.
1st Gorge Trip - ITAYG Loop - looking for last minute advice
Hi all, I have read here that LG is unlike other trails, which I believe and any advice provided will be taken seriously and most helpful.
Using Avenza and LGMAPS. I will park at Wolfpit very early AM and take Shortoff all the way to Spence Ridge go west to Trail 231 and South to the MST and back to Shortoff.
I’ve been warned to be mindful of rattlesnakes and the river may be uncrossable after heavy rains.
I’ve also read here that there is a nuisance bear around shortoff. I don’t want to buy a bear canister and I can do a pretty good PCT hang however I want to avoid camping in the area entirely. I don’t know exactly what area I should avoid.
Any tips, recommendations and advice would be most appreciated.
Overnight loops recommendations.
Hello all! I am a moderately experienced backpacker looking for some weekend or extended weekend loops. 8-12mi loops to bring a little one and 15-30mi for myself.
So far I’ve done a 20mi loop in Uwharrie and another 20mi in the Grayson Highlands. I’ll be doing the ITAYG later this month.
Thanks all in advance!
