Filipino UGC Creators: What’s Working for You?

For Filipino UGC creators, what’s actually helping you land clients and increase your income? I’d love to hear your experiences with finding clients, pricing, portfolio building, and outreach, especially when working with local vs. international brands.

How much do you typically charge, where do you find clients, and what made the biggest difference in getting repeat or higher-paying projects? Also, what’s the rookie mistakes you made early on that other creators should avoid?

Is Leveraged Finance a Better Sell-Side Launchpad Than Traditional IB?

I rarely see leveraged finance discussed separately from “investment banking,” but I think it deserves its own conversation. If you're recruiting as a student or early-career analyst, choosing between traditional M&A, LevFin, DCM, ER, Corporate Banking, or S&T isn't just about prestige or first-year comp.

LevFin is particularly interesting because you get exposure to both transactions and credit. You're thinking about leverage, debt capacity, pricing, covenants, refinancing risk, sponsor behavior, and how changes in rates affect a company's capital structure. That can be a very different experience from spending most of your time on pure M&A execution. On the other hand, if your goal is public-markets investing, ER or credit research may give you a more relevant foundation. If you want to move toward corporate finance or relationship banking, Corporate Banking can arguably be a more logical starting point.

What actually helped me land sell-side interviews (IB, ER & Capital Markets) after dozens of rejections

After going through the recruiting process for sell-side roles, I realized that getting interviews isn't just about having a strong GPA or applying to hundreds of openings. The candidates who seem to stand out are the ones who combine solid technical knowledge with the ability to communicate clearly and demonstrate genuine interest in the markets. Understanding accounting, valuation, and financial modeling is essential, but interviewers also want to hear thoughtful opinions on recent M&A deals, earnings, or macroeconomic trends. Networking with alumni and industry professionals also appears to make a meaningful difference well not necessarily because it guarantees referrals, but because it provides valuable insight into what different teams are actually looking for. Looking back, I think practicing behavioral questions and mock interviews was just as important as studying technical concepts.

For those who have recruited for or currently work in Investment Banking, Equity Research, Sales & Trading, Corporate Banking, or Capital Markets, what do you think is the most underrated factor that helped you break into the industry, and what advice would you give to someone preparing for the recruiting process today?
