Slavery and Exploitation in Dark Sun

Since slavery is so central to the setting, let’s talk about all the forms that slavery (or near slavery) can take.

Impressment and conscription are forms of forced state labor, but they are legally and historically distinct from chattel slavery. Both strip individuals of bodily autonomy by forcing them into service against their will.

Chattel slavery involves lifelong, generational ownership of human beings as property, whereas impressment and conscription are temporary, state-mandated military or labor obligations.

There‘s also coercion, kidnapping, forced prison labor, indentured servitude, wage slavery, serfdom, debt bondage, thralls, prisoners of war, and forced marriage.

How many different forms of slavery or theft of bodily autonomy are explicitly present in the original campaign setting?

Which forms are you using in your game?

What forms have I missed that are great role-playing fodder?

How are you using slavery in your game?

Drying 3.5kg spools?

I’ve got 3.5 kg spools i need to dry. The spools measure 12" x 3.75" with a 2" center hole.

These are too large to dry with polymakers polybox, even the large box. And too large for the Bambu Labs AMS.

Anyone have a solution? I’m not looking to DIY a solution.

Saturn 4 16K -still stuggling with calibration

I’ve been trying to use the XP2 calibration tool, and the Elegoo SateLite slicer. it seems a recent update means I can no longer set the transition layers to zero. So, what do I do now? my reading online indicates that the calibration tool isn’t intended to be used with any transition layers.

I’m really struggling to initiate a fast

I have fasted before, and it was great. but the past few months I’ve been waking up with really painful hunger pains that are bad enough I feel I have to eat something. this throws off my whole plan, and I also find I’m eating later in the evenin, which is certainly related to the morning hunger.

anyone else struggle to get started in a multi-day fast?

Printed Rook, now what?

So, I've leveled the build plate and got my rook test print to print. Now I'm ready to move onto the next step. I think the next think to do is the exposure calibration test for the resin I'm currently using. But which test is the right test? It seems to me that the XP2 exposure test is the next thing for me to print. And then after that, perhaps I'm looking at cones of calibration or boxes of calibration, although searching reddit suggests those have some issues, and maybe should not be used?

Once I've done the exposure test, am I clear to start minis?

Saturn 4 Ultra 16K

My resin printer has arrived and I’m currently printing the test rook in the washable resin. I’m new to resin printing, but not new to 3D printing.

Since I’m using all elegoo branded resins, do I still need to do calibration prints to tune my settings?

What‘s the current set of best practices for tuning? I don't want to spend more than a day or two dialing in my setting, and I have a few different resins I’m trying out. Will I need to calibrate every new resin?

What am I doing wrong?

I have Max 20X subscription and I never seem to be able to hit the cap. Ive got 3 or 4 projects going at a time, including heavy tasks like reviewing and tagging video, prototyjng codebase projects, building a pc game and building a web playable board game.

Despite all that, I neve manage to hit my usage caps, and from all the othe posts I see here, it seems to me that I must be using it wrong. I mean I’ve been running Fable 5 since it came online and I’m still no where near my cap.

SE PA - looking to buy dent corn for milling into grits

like the title says, I’m looking to buy bags of dent corn suitable for human consumption that I can grind into grits.

I’m in southeast PA, and I’m fine to buy online if there’s a trusted site.

I know that dent corn is usually used for cattle feed and ethanol. Are there food safety regulations for sale for human consumption?

I’m looking to have my team of engineers and programmers find opportunities to support government R&D with design, development and prototyping services. do these kinds of contracts exist, and if so, how do I find them?
