So while driving along the mini gave a few pufs of smoke and went into limp mode. When I scanned it I got the P1105 fault so I dug out the MAP sensor. And it was coated with an oil film explaining why it failed. So I ordered a new one which should arrive tomorrow.

Now to avoid a repeat I checked the PCV pipe and there was some oil in there so, wonder what can be wrong in the PCV system other than the valve as I have already replaced that a month ago as part of some maintenance.

Can the cam cover itself be defective? Valve guide seals have been done in January

Hoewel ik veel klus ervaring heb (bouw eigen race motoren restaureer auto’s) ben ik redelijk nieuw met het werken aan moderne auto’s met een OBD poort en scantool.

Nu vraag ik me af hoe jullie het doen en hoeveel vertrouwen jullie hebben in de scantools.

Mijn Mini (r55 2010) stottert op dit moment en als ik zonder scantool zou diagnoseren zou ik beginnen met de ontsteking omdat de klachten daar op lijken.
De scantool zegt echter dat de MAF niet (goed) werkt.

Dus nu vraag ik me af vertrouwen jullie de scantool blind of ga je zelf nog op onderzoek uit?
