Does this look normal?

Had surgery on 8/11 for a deviated septum and a perforated septum. I called the dr after hours and they said as long as it’s not gushing to just use Afrin. It’s not gushing but definitely consistently dripping and they didn’t physically see the nose.

Perforated septum surgery recovery. AMA

Backstory: I had a septoplasty and turbinate reduction in 2022 that resulted in a 1/2cm perforation and in the front of my nose.

Symptoms: crusting, congestion, whistling and huge boogers getting stuck that would block my nose.

Surgery: 8/11/26 Septal closure with an island pedicle flap and a revision septoplasty.

Day of surgery: Dr came in and talked to me about all of my worries and anxieties. He said he would only reduce the turbinates if he had to. They put in a breathing tube and Surgery took 90 minutes and post op wasn’t bad, I asked for Zofran to help with nausea and vomiting. Surprisingly, I can still breathe through my nose right now but I can tell the swelling will continue to increase.

I slept most of the day elevated with ice packs and a neck pillow. I had a smoothie to soothe my throat and tortellini soup for dinner. It’s now 10pm on the night of surgery and the bottom of my nose/teeth are starting to hurt. But I just took some Tylenol and heading to bed!!! I will continue to update this for others that are looking for personal experiences.

Chances of ENS with 2nd nasal surgery

I’m having a perforation repair on August 11 but when he’s in there he’s going to reduce my turbinates and do a repeat septoplasty. What are the chances of getting ENS after a 2nd surgery?? I am so scared!!!

My perforation already causes dry nose, congestion, crusting and whistling. So I am opting to get surgery.

Perforated Septum Surgery? Good bad and ugly!

I had a septoplasty (deviated septum) and turbinate reduction in 2024. One of the complications is a perforated septum (I had no idea!) mine is about 2mm- I can post a picture if needed.

Now August 11, 2026 I am having a perforated septum repair surgery and turbinate reduction. The first part of the post is going to be advice, tips/tricks from other people. Anyone experience this before?! How was the recovery.

The 2nd part of this post will be my own experience with the surgery and recovery because I can’t really find any experiences with the perforated septum repair surgery.

Thanks for following along and for all your tips and tricks!!
