First of all, they’re sitting on wayyy too much money for their product to be this terrible and they have yet to even successfully expand outside of flower. One could argue that they haven’t even mastered flower yet!

Before I forget: Qwest is a tobacco company masquerading as a canna LP. A literal wolf in sheep’s clothes. Their grow team fully consists of vegetable and tobacco farmers (I have a similar gripe with Pure Sunfarms, but I’ll save that for another rant). Knowing this made me realize why their entire approach to this business is completely counterintuitive.

When I worked there and we would sample the product, it always baffled me how the buds looked preemo but smoked like air; every product reads >29% yet it feels like you’re smoking Diet Kush and if you even so much as yawn, you might miss out on the high completely. It’s like they found a way to suck the fun out of weed while still making the weed “look pretty” ✨

They have some of the best genetics and phenos on the market and I WISH someone else grew them (cough cough Smoker Farms). If I was a seed breeder, I’d hate to see a Qwest exec coming.

One thing I found most interesting about Qwest was that their entire business model was built around an imaginary customer — Qwest was trying to attract, for lack of better terms, republican voters in their 30s-50s with corporate big wig jobs who appreciate the finer things in life like a $5,000 bottle of Louis XIII cognac and aren’t all about hype. Qwest really was banking on these imaginary customers to be their biggest demographic. Qwest’s c-suite was somehow under the impression that this mythical 1% cannabis community would not just buy a multitude of ounces per week, they had the audacity to assume that these fictitious customers would see their product and automatically go tell their friends at the office water cooler about how awesome Qwest is.

All of this is well documented btw. Here’s what I said to them in response, verbatim:

“I’ve been in this industry since I was a teen. This business thrives on hype. And the person you just described — they don’t exist. Those dudes go to Alberta or Toronto for hookers, blow, gambling and cheap cigarettes. The few that do buy weed, they buy an 8th of the cheapest stuff possible and it lasts them an eternity because they get wrecked off one toke. And they definitely don’t care about sativa or indica; their answer to that question is almost always ‘whatever gets me the most fucked up’…Does that sound like a connoisseur to you? Let’s think this through. Weed just became legal. These guys are still stuck in the Reefer Madness era. Do you really think Ted from Accounts Payable, at his corporate job that still does drug tests, is gonna see Brenda on her coffee break and announce to her ‘yo I’m lowkey a pothead! btw have ya heard of Qwest by chance? Because I HIGH-ly recommend them, lol’”

I didn’t want to work in legal weed. The only reason I did was because my customers kept telling me how bad things had gotten since legalization. I returned to the cannabis market with one simple goal: to help spearhead legal weed in the right direction. Having said that, imagine my frustration when a group of Big Tobacco millionaires that don’t even know how to market Death Bubba because they’ve only been in the industry for a solid two weeks told me that I was “out of my depth”.

I put my two weeks in the following day.

TL;DR: they’re not here for the culture or the customer. They’re here for the cash by any means necessary. There’s a MIDS EPIDEMIC right now and high quality cannabis should not be this difficult to access.

PS… whatever happened to those pardons they promised us once weed became legal? It’s almost as if capitalism is more important than prison reform. 🤔

I take A LOT of meds but cannabis is the one
thing that keeps me the most calm, sane, and feeling whole.

A friend of mine pointed out that when they take their Adderall they don't smoke as much because it's almost as if the meds block THC. Once they pointed that out to me, I started noticing the same thing.

It could be placebo effect or maybe I just have a really high tolerance (very possible lol) but I was wondering if anyone had any info or experience regarding this?

Also this is my first time back on Adderall since 2014 and I've heard (and noticed) that there's something different/missing in the "new" formula? Again, is it just me or..????
