The Anglo-German Cold War: legacy of Dogger Bank—Day 0

Lore:

What if the Dogger Bank incident escalated into a British intervention in the Russo-Japanese war?

The Russian Empire would have crumbled. In fact, the German Empire, who saw Russia as a future enemy and a competing rising power, may have joined. In this timeline, they did, and firmed a fast peace with the Russian Empire as the socialists revolted.

There was no WW1, but instead Europe reorganized in a series of semi-isolated conflicts: Austria-Hungary was defeated by Serbia, Romania and Italy, the Ottoman Empire collapsed, France was humiliated by Germany and the Netherlands, and the United States had a socialist takeover after a destructive Second American Civil War.

But from all these defeats and victories, there was only a country that was seeking actual, cruel revenge: the newly formed French State. Being born from revanchism and the cultural fight against past and communism, surrealists led France to conquer most of Western Germany and Southern England. This horrific empire finally crumbled by its own weight, being finally divided between Northern France (pro-British) and Southern France (pro-German)

Meanwhile, in Asia, a coalition by Germany, the Socialist States of America and the Soviet Union crushed the Japanese Empire, establishing after peace a strategic alliance against Britain.

Two bugs at the same time. My game is ruined, how could I solve it?

Was playing Red World+Red World: Alien Nation

1: I went down almost all of the revolutionary socialist Gorbachev and the Politburo is still ruling with the same ideology

2 & 3: I tried invading Sweden through a naval invasion, and I have naval superiority. But divisions can’t because they think they don’t have naval superiority.

Alien seas of Rocinante

Rocinante is a world orbiting the habitable zone of a red dwarf (Minor Celestina) which orbits a yellow dwarf (Major Celestina) at a distance similar to Jupiter’s orbit around the Sun, dividing its surface into two habitable hemispheres: a tropical forever-day zone, and a relatively cold temperate zone.

With a smaller gravity than Earth, a denser methane-oxygen atmosphere, water-ammonia seas, pink flora and no seasons, this world offers a radically different evolutionary history than Earthly one.

In the middle of both, there is the New Pacific Sea, full of biodiversity, which some life forms are showed in this post.

Spotted Tridentfish: Swimming with its ten mobile fins and directing its swimming with its tail, this animal has an incredibly primitive design probably similar to the first “vertebrate”, with a “column” along its arms made up of metallic-like bones that constantly change internally forming electric structures able to work both as neurones and as structural support. It has an open circulatory system and cold blood, three simple eyes (two of them in its branches and one of them under their mouth), and a diet of biological waste.

Flappester: A sea turtle-like herbivore that slowly swims alongside its larvae, pretty similar structurally to a mollusk, and with an extensible beak it uses for defence through biting.

Northern flower-finned: A slow predator that feeds primarily on dying or sick prey, with a strong venom in its flesh. Has a closed circulatory system and hot blood, as it lives a migratory lifestyle in the north of the New Pacific Ocean from the tropical hemisphere (where it grows) to the temperate hemisphere (where it reproduces and is born).

Migratory whispershell: These fast armed and boneless creatures circumvallate the world multiple times in a lifetime, feeding like locusts on every sessile life they can find… and moving with them hundreds of predators like sardines would do.

Kinger deathshell: A whispershell-like 2 meters predator that goes through the soil of the New Pacific Sea jumping to its prey, which it catches with its extensible and powerful beak. Both males and females have light green fins they use for sexual selection.

Shallow turbosquid: Many “vertebrates“ have returned to water in Rocinante’s history, and these are one of these examples. With mouths able to work as syphons their whole body is a torpedo, going at fast speeds through water when they aren’t breathing in the surface with their spiracle. Able to live their entire lives in sea (although they prefer shallow waters) thanks to placenta-like viviparity.

Tomahawk sharkshrimp: The terror of any animal smaller than them (20-30 cm), these fast and common “vertebrates” have returned to water too, although they have cold blood and obviously small sizes. They swim turned around themselves, with the ventral eye above. They have sexual dimorphism, with big and colourful males and small, grey females (which have to get out of the water sea turtle-like to lay their eggs)

Most upvoted comments decide on a Conlang day 1: Vowel system

Rules:

—I will use the most upvoted comment, and maybe incorporate elements from the 2nd-4th most upvoted ones.

Two or more vowels.

—You can use different systems for different contexts (like English differentiation between tonic and non-tonic vowels, or German differentiation between long and short vowels)

Gilgamesh 2-13 (also called Gilgameshian Sun) is a very stable orange dwarf Gilgamesh 2-13 b (also called Gilgamesh) orbits around in a very eccentric orbit, changing from temperatures of 110°C in “summer” to 11°C in “winter”.

Gilgamesh is one of the few worlds in the universe with complex life, with practically none axial tilt, an icy Europe-like moon, days that last 10 hours and so a very strong magnetic field, once and a quarter Earth’s gravity, and a 20 atm nitrogen-hydrogen-methane atmosphere that stops most of light before it can reach the ground (which also allows for liquid water all through the year).

Gilgameshians have bones, and that’s where similarities end.

First of all, their bones are made of iron-rich chitin instead of calcium.

Gilgameshians breathe hydrogen and exhale methane.

They have an irregular, predominantly bilateral symmetry that divides their bodies into three parts, and their vertebrae go through their ventral part of the body in opposite to Earthly vertebrates.

In each part, they have ears surrounded by liquid-filled protuberances that allow for 360° echolocation, and three pairs of legs, two of them in the front part have become arms.

In the front part, they have three fly-like eyes adapted for Gilgamesh’s low luminosity, and a mouth made up of four mandibles forming a “+” shape.

In their back, they have their anus; and in their laterals, they have four s-shaped noses and, under them, s-shaped reproductive organs.

As Gilgamesh is divided into “summer” life forms and “winter” life forms, Gilgameshians are some of the few groups that have evolved the resilience to survive all year long without aestivation.

Their reproduction requires the union of three gametes instead of two (egg+spermatozoid+spermatozoid), and so, there is a sperm demand that allowed for individuals to be divided into hermaphrodites and males. The one that makes the sperm-producer function will have to attract the egg-producer, and then will form lifelong threesomes.

They give life birth to amorphous invertebrate larvae (period where they’d learn how to talk) that will feed until being able to form an egg, from which it’ll born a second time into an adult-like adolescent. Hermaphrodites will loose the ability to reproduce, but males won’t, and may become patriarchs.

As humans think more easy in 2D, Gilgameshians think more easy in 3D, and 2D thinking is extremely unnatural and difficult for them, which has ended up with sculpture writing, more advanced physics (Newton-level knowledge at antiquity-like stage), and less advanced pure mathematics.

Gilgameshians communicate by producing a greater variety of sounds than humans, sounding like synthesizers, gibberish rappers and similars depending on language.
