Any advice for a successful ConfirmID process?

Hello,

I’m traveling with my 75 year old mother in a weeks time, and she had her wallet either lost or stolen a few days ago.

She immediately went to the NY DMV to get a replacement, but expected delivery time is 10-14 business days, and the flight was 8 business days from the time of the appointment. NY doesn’t have a rush option. So we’re hoping the new ID will arrive by the flight, but chances are, it wont.

She doesn’t have a passport or any other form of Real ID at the moment. Ironically she’s currently in the middle of getting a passport, but that also won’t be available in time (this is a domestic flight so can’t get that rushed either).

I had her fill out the ConfirmID form online, but I’m wondering if there’s anything else she can do or bring to the airport when we travel that will help? Every form of picture ID she had was in her wallet.

Would bringing an expired passport help at all, or any sort of mail? Or does she just need to show up at the airport and hope for the best?

Thanks so much

Deep, dull, pain in thigh

30M, 200 lbs, 6’3, no medication/pre existing conditions

For about a month now I’ve had this very deep, dull type of pain in my thigh about halfway up. I believe it’s on the back, but sometimes I also feel it in front.

No type of movement hurts at all, so I don’t think it’s a muscle or tendon issue.

Pressure on the back of my thigh (for example, sitting on a chair that’s high up and puts pressure on the back of my thigh) aggravates it, as does impact. Running seems to be the biggest trigger, as does walking when it’s really aggravated.

There’s no radiating pain to my lower back, so don’t think it’s a pinched nerve.

I stopped running when it first started up, took two weeks ago, and it felt better, so I ran again. Twice in a week. And now it’s as bad as it was before I stopped running.

Would be grateful to some input as to what I might be, and how to resolve it!

Thanks

Anyone struggle with call of the void?

Sorry if this isn’t the right subreddit for this, wasn’t sure if I should post here or a more medically aligned one.

I’ve always struggled a bit with intrusive thoughts and overthinking. Then I read up on a phenomenon known as “call of the void,” which is when, in short, people that aren’t suicidal at all have an urge to do things that would result in self harm.

And now… it’s starting to impact me. I am not suicidal at all, but when I’m up on a ledge, I am now finding myself having mini panic attacks about not being able to control myself from jumping off from a height, or off a boat, or whatever.

I was walking across a half mile bridge and the whole time I just kept thinking to myself “what if I black out and the next thing I know I’m falling off.”

It sounds so stupid typing it out, but it’s having a real negative impact on me right now. So just wanted to see if anyone else that’s experienced it has any tips or tricks to beat it back.

Stumbled upon the USMC VIP transports today in lower Manhattan

I’m not sure if the President was actually on board at the time because security seemed kind of lax, a seaplane was on final approach right above the helipad as the helicopters were in the air and there were tons of boats just chilling without the usual NYPD presence you see when POTUS is around, but was pretty cool to see the little VIP air convoy land in front of me at the South Street Helipad to refuel? for about 10-15 mins before taking off just now.

What’s going on with our future trip?

Hi all, not sure if I’m missing something painfully obvious or if Amtrak is just being weird.

My friend and I booked a spot on what we thought was the same train in a few months. But we were just going over the trip planning in general and found out that we are seemingly on different trains, except one doesn’t exist anymore?

You can see from the pictures, one is train 2166, and one is 2158. Slightly different times, by minutes, same day, same route. But when I go to search on book a trip, 2158 exists, but 2166 doesn’t. Yet I’m still booked on 2166.

Does anyone know what’s going on and if I need to contact Amtrak, or is this something that will resolve on its own?

Apple Account Recovery - Not being given option to verify identity with credit card?

Hi all,

My phone broke and I'm trying to set up my account on my new phone. Unfortunately my phone was my only apple device, and thus I have no way to doing 2 factor authorization without being able to receive texts. I'm in the process of the apple recovery process, and I'm at the point where it says I need to wait three days before being sent instructions.

The webpage also says I can use my credit card information to verify my identity and gain access sooner. However, when I continue through the process, that option never comes up. It asks to verify my email, which it does, and then asks for a new phone number to send instructions at the end of the three days. Thats it.

Does anyone know if theres anyway I can actually submit my credit card information to cut down on the three days? It's really going to interfere with my work if I cant use my phone until Thursday.

Would going into a store help in verifying my identity?

Thanks
