How to saturate bandwidth on BitTorrent transfers between a single seeder and another peer?

How to saturate bandwidth on BitTorrent transfers between a single seeder and another peer?

I can never send anything faster than 1-2 MiB/s through BitTorrent. Both the other peer and I have symmetrical ≥1 Gb/s connections, and we can verify that with speedtest.net

I'm trying to share a private torrent using an announce URL from privtracker.com, with qBittorrent and ProtonVPN with port forwarding enabled.

I can get >100 MiB/s download speeds when downloading a well-seeded torrent, but I can't achieve high upload speeds when seeding (to a single peer).

My only guess is that the VPN is setting a limit so a couple of users don't saturate the server for everyone else.

I'm hearing you all. Thanks!

How common is BDMV folder playback from a USB drive on Blu-ray players with USB ports?

I've seen people mention that they use Oppo players and other Chinese brands. Can I expect most players to support it, or should I make very sure I buy one that does?

Also, someone noted that their player handles BDMV backups much more smoothly than ISO backups. Is that generally true, or does it depend on the player?

I'm hearing you all. Thanks!

ProtonVPN split tunneling include mode issue with PowerShell 7

Adding the executable "C:\Program Files\PowerShell\7\pwsh.exe" doesn't work. What am I missing?

Note that PowerShell is the only app I'm having issues with. qBittorrent works totally fine. My goal is to have only Pwsh and qBit in the list of included apps.

When split tunneling is disabled, Pwsh uses the VPN connection just fine. With Include mode, Invoke-RestMethod doesn't work, and for the things that do work, my ISP IP is used instead of the VPN IP.

Invoke-RestMethod test:

> Invoke-RestMethod https://api.ipify.org
Invoke-RestMethod: The requested address is not valid in its context.

cURL test:

> curl.exe https://api.ipify.org
<My ISP IP>

I'm on Windows 10 21H2, ProtonVPN 5.1.5, Pwsh 7.6.3 x64.

I'm also using the Console Host, not Windows Terminal, if that matters.

Can someone explain how to properly set up PowerShell for this?

Thanks, everyone!

Horizontal line on Dell S2725QS

I bought this monitor 9 months ago, new on Amazon.

I don't have a spare DisplayPort cable to test with. I doubt it's the issue since it's not a cheap one, but is it worth buying another one to check, or should I go straight to a warranty claim?

Thanks, everyone!

Dented factory recertified Exos X24 24 TB. How concerned should I be about its long term health?

I bought it from a retailer 3 months ago for 400 € and still haven't unsealed it.

I've read that the aluminum casing is quite soft and therefore easy to dent, but some dents could potentially cause helium to leak and shorten the drive's lifespan.

I checked the warranty on Seagate's website, and it says the drive is covered until July 2030.

It's the only drive I have with any dents. Would it be better to use it exclusively as a backup drive rather than in a NAS?

The exact model is ST24000NM002H.

Thanks, everyone!

Video of a wild bull uprooting a stump in a dark forest. Saw it on Twitter some years ago, possibly a GIF.

The cameraman was recording from afar. It really looked like someone had found a wild bull testing its strength against a stump. The forest was dense, and there was little light, possibly at dawn or dusk.

It is not this one, in case someone thought so.

Thanks to all.

Why are BDMV backups much more common than ISO backups?

In some torrent indexers, it is even suggested to upload BDMV backups. If we’re uploading a full disc, why not upload a complete image directly instead?

Are disk images essentially pointless? Maybe not?

I'm curious how many of you backing up commercial film DVDs/BDs choose to create a disk image file with an .iso extension instead of only saving the BDMV and CERTIFICATE folders.

The purpose of a disk image is to preserve the original ISO9660/UDF filesystem, and the only practical use for that would be to write it back to an optical disc. An HDD with ZFS is a better storage medium than an optical disc with UDF, isn't it?

VLC and PowerDVD can play DVD/BD/UHD-BD menus from folders, although only legacy versions of PowerDVD support UHD-BD. I'd also like to know what other software you use for menu playback on Windows.

Torrent indexer rules state that 3D discs should be uploaded in disk image format, but that folders are preferred for standard discs. Would some users be inconvenienced with an upload being an image? I'm also unaware why that is the requirement for 3D discs, so I'd appreciate it if someone could explain.

I initially started with disk images because I found it interesting to preserve filesystem details such as volume label, implementation id, timestamps... not for any particular reason other than my own r/DataHoarder satisfaction.

Other questions I have are: is the CERTIFICATE folder only needed to ensure compatibility with some standalone players, or would discs that need it also have issues with PC software if that folder were missing?

I'm also curious about how compatible disc backups are with standalone players and gaming consoles, considering both formats. Is it common for these devices to be capable of playing full backups from a USB drive, or do only a few support it?

Many thanks for your replies:)

Fraunhofer FDK AAC vs professional NLE AAC encoders?

The consensus is that libfdk_aac is the best AAC encoder in FFmpeg; I’d like to know how it compares to, for example, the encoder used by DaVinci Resolve. Thanks :)
