Capping distance on specific days?

Is there a way to cap distance for certain days and have mileage added only to the rest of the days?

I run every single day. My body likes it and I am otherwise not very active outside of my running and weight training. On Monday and Friday I run 2-3 miles max and at a recovery pace (half walking honestly lol)

Runna makes those days ramp up mileage with the other. I am considering just marking those as rest days on Runna and still doing them anyway. But I still count those days in my weekly mileage.

Turn off auto threshold adjustment?

I set my lactate threshold to 176. Because I did lab testing and that’s what I was. The zone calculated using that number feel accurate too. As in, when I cross over 158-160, running no longer feels conversational pace.

I have had coros for a week and I love most of it, but this part is annoying. It seems to change my lactate threshold every day after my run, and with it, my heart rate zones. When I do a recovery run it seems to drop it to 170, today it bumped up to 180. Lactate threshold doesn’t change dramatically on a daily basis, so it’s a weird thing to force into auto adjustment.

How to be intuitive when you sometimes under eat?

So I am a runner. I am training for my second marathon. I currently track my calories simply because I want to be sure I eat enough. But my adhd brain seems to have two modes. Either “track every last bite” or “oops, I forgot to eat”.

The problem is that when I stop tracking, I seem to naturally under eat. I can feel it in my performance. So I start tracking again and I notice I really am. How can I be sure I eat enough, without feeling like I have to force it and/or track it. Tracking my food is mentally exhausting for me and I really want to get away from it.

To be clear, I’m not under eating for any secret weight based reason. I just get distracted and forget. The more mileage I add to my training the less I seem to naturally eat, which is counter productive.

I have tried timers to remind me. But I start to ignore timers when I have multiple. The sound sort of blends into my life.

Running shorts with waterproof pocket?!

This past January I ran the WDW marathon and I had a blast. Unfortunately it was so hot and humid by the end that I was wicked sweaty and my phone was completely useless because the touch screen was covered in sweat.

I like having access to my phone to arrange where my husband and kids will see me towards the end.

I’m running the same marathon next January and I want to solve this problem. I prefer to not wear a belt or vest because Disney races have tons of aid stops.

Do they make running shorts that have compression belly area (I have a flap from large weight loss) and have a sweat proof pocket?

Edited to add, I’m gonna try the baggie before buying new shorts.

How long does Garmin take to catch up?

I stopped wearing my Garmin for around a month. I was struggling with data fatigue and I needed a break. I did NOT stop running, but Garmin obviously thinks I did. I’ve been running about 35 mpw the whole time. It keeps telling me I’m over training. Despite all my recovery metrics clearly showing I’m fine. I tried importing all the runs I had done while I was away from Garmin from Strava. But that didn’t help.

How long can I expect it to be stressed that I’m running to much?

Is 5:18 to 4:45 realistic?

Hey there! I’m training for my second marathon in September (Boulderthon). I did my first back in January. I finished in 5:18. I have been running for 2 years and I have never been fast. But I have never really tried to be. I did my first marathon with almost exclusively zone 2 training, but lots of it. I kept my pace conservative throughout the race because my only real goal was finishing and I was worried about bonking.

Now that I have done one, I feel more confident. I’m incorporating speed work into training this time. But I am 44 years old and still a newish runner. I don’t expect to ever be actually fast. But I had read somewhere that 4:45 is the finishing time for masters women. So I kinda latched on to that. I’d be happy with average. lol.

I’m using runna and it thinks I can do 4:35-4:49. But I’m not sure. I don’t want to set myself up for disappointment.

Second marathon

I am starting my block for my second marathon. What did you do differently for the second than the first?

I was super conservative for my first. I intentionally stayed in low zone 3 and didn’t push too hard because I was afraid of blowing up before the end. But now that I’ve finished one I feel like I can give more on my second.

Weight goal range?

Does anyone know if you can set a goal range? Or turn off the auto goal change setting? I’m 5’11” and 168 pounds. I have my goal at 170 and anytime I input my weight (I weigh in every 2 weeks) and it’s above or below that, it changes my goal.

I input 168 today and it reset to “gain 0.5 a week”. I don’t want to intentionally gain weight. Though I’m sure I will. I fluctuate between 165 and 175 and I’m fine with that. I’m starting a marathon block and I’m sure by the end of the taper week I’ll be closer to that 175. But before then I’ll probably lose a bit more. It’s fine.

But every time it auto resets it changes my custom macro setting and micro nutrients (I have a 40g fiber goal instead of standard 25. I also have low blood pressure and need more sodium). And it’s annoying to go in and redo everything.

Reasonable goal?!

Ok. So I used Runna for my first marathon back in January. I loved the plan. I found Runna’s prediction to be ludicrous and I decided I wasn’t even going to try. I think it said I could do a 4:45 marathon. But I was shooting for 5:30, because I’m slow and fine with it. I ended up running a 5:18, being incredibly conservative with my pacing. I aimed to stay low zone 3 the whole time and I did. I think I could have gone faster, but it was my first, so I didn’t want to risk blowing up.

Fast forward, I’m doing another marathon at the end of September and Runna suggests I can do 4:35-4:51. Is that a reasonable PR? Or would it be crazy to push for that. For my half marathon plans I’ve used Runna for they were pretty spot on with predictions. I haven’t raced at all since January but I have been running consistently. I used my last HM time (2:26 in October) as my baseline for the plan.

▲ 1.6k r/AppleWatch

I have 2 kids that I don’t feel are ready for a phones, but they are ready for some independence and I like being able to contact them. So I have them set up with Apple Watches as stand alone lines on my cellular plan. I had to take them to get activated today and looked crazy with 4 watches on (2 are mine, so maybe I am crazy). 😂😂😂
