Hello! I am looking for an unaccompanied solo that can help to be a protest piece, whether it itself was made in protest of something or the composer who was going through a lot of troubles to where them being is a protest if this makes any sense at all. Any skill level should be fine, I'm looking mostly for listening but if there is on I'm able to play I would love to also. Thank you!
Hello! I am going to be helping out with the marching band (specifically the brass people) and I know that a lot of them struggle to read music, and memorize fingerings. Something that really helped one kid was BrassFlows and I was curious if anyone knows of a mobile alternative so that I can have all of them download it and try and have a competition to see who can get the highest score by the end of band camp. It is like five kids total and if I can get them all able to read and correlate each note with it's fingerings we will be extremely successful. Thank you!
Hello! I've never posted here and I apologize if this is against the rules but I just adore Chopin's Winter Wind etude. It is genuinely one of my favorite pieces(? I don't know if you call etudes pieces or just etudes) of all time and I am a trombonist and I almost exclusively listen to wind band music (I know it's an issue I'll branch out someday). Something about the extreme shift from the beginning to the actual "storm" just paints such a great picture in my head as if you were walking in the forest and then just got dumped on by snow and the extreme high notes showing the frost and all of it just paints a picture in my head that no other form of art, whether written, drawn, or any other medium has ever done. I really really want to arrange it for wind ensemble because I feel like it would be amazing, but I want to save my creative energy in case in college they're like "okay we're gonna arrange a song" or something like that. I'm an upcoming freshman music ed major so I frankly do not know what to expect going into music and if that's stupid please tell me or if I shouldn't even do it. I feel like it would be amazing. Either way I absolutely adore this piece, and it will forever be in my Top 5 of all time. Have a nice day/night!! <3
Hello! For my fall ensemble auditions we were given three etudes and do not know what two of them are. The first is Blazhevich 65 (which I cannot find a reference recording for) and the other two just say "Etude #11" and "Etude #31" and before asking the question "What are these etudes from?" I am curious if that is intentional and just the audition people trying to see if we can figure out the music on our own. That all sounds fine to me if that's the case but I was also not given tempo markings for the 2nd piece 🤦♀️. (Shown are the 2nd and 3rd excerpts)

Hello! I'm currently purchasing bass bone mutes for college and I am split between 2 different straight mutes. I am getting the Morningstar cup mute, and was wondering if I should get the Morningstar straight, or the Dennis Wick straight (both copper bottoms)? Ive played on a Dennis Wick and I loved the sound but am curious to see if there is anyone who has played on both can give some opinions or even suggest a different straight mute! Thank you!!
Hello! Me and my friend both recently acquired "new" clarinets that are crusty, dusty, and very musty. I am a trombone player so please don't take this as just super stupid. Since they are plastic clarinets, could we take off the keys, tape the cork with painters tape (or something else to make sure it doesnt get wet) and put it in a bath with dawn dish soap or will that ruin the clarinet? Hello! I'm slowly working on a composition project to write a marching show to prove to myself that I can and I've tried giving it a theme and I can't. I always end up feeling that some pieces would sound really cool even if they don't fit the theme.
Originally the theme was going to be infinity (extremely original i know) and feature Shattering Infijity (Benjamin Dean Taylor) Glassworks (Philip Glass) and Rippling Water Colors (Brian Balmages). I just came home from PMEA All-States and we had the extreme privilege of playing John Mackeys Xerxes, and I feel like musically it was be amazing, but it just wouldn't fit the theme. Should I suck it up and not put it in and work on staying in theme, or can I just do it?
