Dan said “the only good iteration of Byler was Dan and Phil in YouTube rewind” 😂 this is the third time they’ve mentioned Byler, lol. The first time Phil said “we tried to manifest the gay for you and it didn’t happen” the second time they talked about how they (Dan and Phil) were the 4th most popular Tumblr ship in 2025, beaten by Byler. Dan looked offended and said “well they’re gone now” 💀 I wonder if DNP were rooting for Byler just as much as we were 😭

I was rewatching some scenes from season 5 (rip to my sanity) to see if I missed any Byler moments, and I completely thought Mike didn’t care that Will got hurt here and he didn’t touch him (I remember people pointing out that his hand flinched backwards after he ran to him). But not only does he say Will’s name, but right before the shot cuts, Mike touches Will’s arm. It’s like he realized he couldn’t not comfort him because he was in danger and he didn’t care who saw 😭I know this is a small scene but I completely gaslit myself that Mike didn’t say or do anything after Will got hurt here, so it was nice to see season 2 Mike back again.

I’m looking for books with a male love interest like Peeta from The Hunger Games or Nick from Heartstopper. I just read Once Upon a Broken Heart and The Cruel Prince and I FINALLY realized why I disliked them so much: it’s because I HATE the trope of mean men who bully the FMC then they get together. no shade if that’s your jam, but what happened to green flag book boyfriends?? I’m looking for a genuinely kind, supportive, golden retriever love interest. Who loves animals or art and is just a really nice person, but also has his own stuff going on. Doesn’t have to be blonde like these two 😂 any genre is fine especially fantasy or YA. can be gay or straight, romance main focus or subplot. thank you!!

Mike’s face in the field scene is what made me think Byler had a CHANCE of happening after going into the season with no doubt in my mind they would drop the plot-line. This scene alone made me do a full 180. Mike’s expression/reaction here is what made me stand up and think “WAIT ARE THEY REALLY DOING THIS?”

I was thinking today “was I delusional for thinking this?” Bc if the intention of Mike walking away after this was a rejection, why did he look so flustered/smitten here? And after this scene and Robin’s Tammy speech I was actually fine with Will learning to move on, but then the powers scene happened and Mike looked so in love I was suddenly almost fully convinced of Byler. Will’s film reel disproved all of Robin’s points about Tammy. Was it stupid to believe in Byler when the show literally debunked the rejection arc with these visuals? I don’t think so, they LITERALLY wrote, shot, and acted it this way on purpose 🫩

Thinking about when this trailer dropped and it went triple platinum in my house. The audio over these images was “this isn’t like one of your campaigns, you don’t get to write the ending, not this time” which was El talking to Mike... I remember everyone thought Mike would talk to Joyce about Will, then talk to El about Will, and she’d go through Will’s memories and see everything that happened (the painting lie…) then that last clip was a mutual breakup. crazy how much potential was wasted and we didn’t even get to see Mike stay by Will’s side like in season 2. bro what is this show the hype was crazy 🫩🫩

again it makes me beg the question why Mike was shown first in Will’s film reel, and none of Will’s other friends were in it. I know Mike being his first friend is a big distinction but they could have shown them all playing DND instead of Mike the Brave being his FIRST MEMORY if nothing was going to come from this??

I know all these examples are so oddly specific and similar and white so I’d love more diverse examples!! The examples are the movies Enola Holmes and Cinderella 2015, Mistborn and Tress of The Emerald Sea by Sanderson, and Barbie Princess and the Pauper. I’m not a big romance reader but I love this trope so I’m looking for any suggestions. Any genre is fine, especially fantasy!!

The title doesn’t do it justice but I love when the man is smart, kind, well read, has other secret hobbies, and falls in love with the woman (not looking for smut, but some is fine). He usually doesn’t want to do his role and either is in disguise or pretends to be someone else. In the end he goes back to it and ends up bringing about real change, inspired by her.

I love when the woman is smart and witty, and they can banter together. She is also badass but falls in love too. They realize they have more in common than they first thought. They help each other, save each other, fight together, and bonus if there’s a fancy ball scene where one of them teaches the other to dance! 3/5 of the examples have that exact scene 😅 I’m just looking for a classic love story where they fall in love, the pining, the yearning, and the wedding (4/5 of these end in a wedding hehe)
