I am a fisherman, I love fishing. I live in ontario, where doing this is very common. Every spring and fall I see hundreds of people just lined up on the side of the river, casting their lines out hoping they can "catch" something.

Salmon don't live for THAT long, and they go up once in their lives to reproduce and I hate seeing so many people just trying to terrorize them.

In one of the pictures I posted, the salmon is black, meaning it's pretty much dead. All it is trying to do is reproduce and people just go out of their way HAPPILY fishing giant half dead fish.

They take pictures, they don't know how to hold the fish, often damaging their gills and jaws, they hold them out of the water too long, and it doesn't get its chance to do the thing it's been waiting 5 years to do.

Don't even get me started on the snaggers. Some people cast out giant weighted hooks and hook the fish on the tail or on the body. They do this happily. They don't care at all.

Some people also eat them, like, it's rotting meat, it's gonna taste terrible (yes I've tried it).

Where I live, there are a lot of people that do not care for the regulations at all, they just keep doing it. They always pull the "I don't speak the language card" but they know damn well what they are doing.

When people catch the salmon and release them, they are often not close to finishing their run. And they do not make it because somebody messed up their gills and they die as soon as they get "released".

Anyway that's all. If you are one of the thousands of people terrorizing salmon each year, find a better hobby.

Bronte harbour, oakville. August 25th at 7 30. I'm just wondering what fish species is everybody trying to catch here in lake ontario.

Has anybody done this portage from Kearney Lake to Pond Lake an Little Rock Lake recently? I have been camping at Kearney for a while and I've decided I want a change of scenery for a day.

Experience : I have never portaged before.

I am planning on doing this alone with my kayak.

Time : This will be next week. I am not planning on camping, just paddling and fishing.

If someone has one this portage recently, how is the fishing?

Is this a good idea to go alone in my kayak as an amateur?

I know its labeled as overgrown, will this be a problem?

Looks like a nymph of some sort, it is june after all. Any help is appreciated.

I was scouting out a possible brook/brown trout location and I'm seeing these signs that say "stop, sewage plant save our trout" I'm assuming these are just signs put up by people trying to trick the population into not fishing there because it is a sewage plant (when it actually isn't a sewage plant), as well as since brook trout are scarce in SO. I'm only seeing these signs on older google maps coverage. Is it just people trying to protect the trout population? Should I fish here? Any help appreciated.
