Can non majors audition for student films

I’m not a film major but would love to participate in student films, however on the website I can only find info about plays and musicals. I did find a Facebook group but some of it seems like it’s non sdsu affiliated but just in the area, I’m wondering if there’s a website or way to find and audition for sdsu specific student films, Ty!

Confused about demo reels

From what I’ve read, you need a demo reel to work, but need work to put on your demo reel. Many people have said “just do student films” but when I looked online, student films were also requiring a demo reel? And I guess you can’t just use self tapes for a demo reel unless you write an original script and film it like a real scene, which seems like it would go badly if I have no experience. Is the only option to pay for classes? I’d love to gain practice and experience without having to pay for classes (at least not for now) but im very confused when people talk about doing things with zero experience yet mention things that seem to require experience. I would appreciate advice on where to find student films that don’t require a demo reel!

Self tapes in a dorm/shared space?

Hi, next year I’ll be sharing a dorm with 8 people and sharing a room with at least one. I seriously doubt I’ll ever have privacy. Are there any tips or workarounds, like rentable spaces or something to record outside of my living situation?

Dreading the dentist because of pain

Basically every year I see the same dentist and the dental hygienist is insanely rough and I’m always sore for a couple days after and bleeding and I literally hate it. I am 18 and have been going to the same dentist since I was little and feel like this issue has just started over the past few years. She always says it’s because I’m not flossing enough which maybe is true but I still try to floss and I am NEVER in that much pain when I floss myself. I have watched flossing tutorials and I carefully wiggle the floss in between each tooth and try to hug the tooth and get everything out. Also everytime I go to the dentist they say everything else looks healthy. I had some tartar but getting an electric toothbrush completely fixed that. If I haven’t flossed I. A while they might bleed a bit but it is never that painful at home. Anyway when this dental hygienist flosses me she basically just pushes down with a ton of pressure and makes the floss slam into my gums and the doesn’t wiggle it around at all. She also does this insanely fast I don’t even feel like she’s flossing anything just stabbing my gums. I have let this happen for the past few years but this year I’m really not wanting to go again because I’m dreading this experience. I also have a very small mouth and oddly shaped jaw which I think makes the flossing even harder. I was originally supposed to get a mouth widener thing but it self corrected? According to my dentist but I still feel it’s a bit tight. I just want to know if this whole thing rlly is my fault or if she’s being very rough. I remember going to the dentist as a kid when I flossed even less and never had issues but I feel like this dentist seriously hates me or something.
