Recurrent inguinal on my right side

Hello Reddit, 33M here. I had an open mesh bilateral repair in 2010. I was just diagnosed with a recurrent small hernia on my right side. Ultrasound showed that it’s about 3cm in diameter. The bulge is soft and reducible and goes flat after sitting or laying down for a while. No pain or major pressure/pinching involved.

I have a consult with general surgery next week to determine what they want to do with it, whether it be surgery or monitoring. I work a physically demanding job and live a very active lifestyle so I’m wary on the “watchful waiting” approach. I would prefer to just get it repaired so I can get on with my life without having it on the back of my mind all the time.

Anybody have experience with a recurrent repair? Did your doctors opt for surgery or monitoring? Any feedback is appreciated.

New DS thrown to the wolves

I am an external hire. I have years of management in grocery retail and landed a DS position. So far I really like the job. My team is awesome even though our dept is short staffed like many of the others, many coworkers have been helping train and coach me. My first day I did training all day, since then I’ve been on the floor covering my department. There are so many training videos and modules to go through but I only have about 20 mins to do them a day after clocking in and quickly after my lunch. I only have my ballymoore so far as there haven’t been any trainers available to certify me on the other equipment, I still have to watch the fork truck videos and get trained on those since my department has a lot of big pallets on top stock. I feel as though I’m falling behind and have no time to shadow other DS’s since my SM wants me covering my department. Not to mention I’m still familiarizing myself with the financial aspect of the business, credit, installs, etc. I really want this to work out but feel as though the lack of training and guidance may be working against me. Any advice is appreciated.

Asymmetry or reoccurrence? (32M, double inguinal, 16 years post op)

Hello everyone. Like the header said; I had a double inguinal hernia surgery in 2010 when I was a teenager. It was the open mesh technique, not laparoscopic. I’m now 32 and have noticed a slightly elevated bulge on the right side of my pubic bone area underneath the scar, mostly when standing. I do the cough test and there isn’t any crazy bulging like there was when I first had it all those years ago before surgery. When I lay down or sit it’s not noticeable.

There’s no pain or major discomfort but im paranoid it might be reoccurring. Anyone have similar issues years after surgery? I switched jobs and my new health insurance is active in a couple weeks and will be going to the doctor to see what they say but I’m curious if anyone else had one side reoccur years after surgery and what their symptoms were. Thank you for reading! Any feedback is appreciated.

New job regrets

I left a retail management job due to burnout and lack of upward mobility. I’ve been at my new job which is a field management job but for building maintenance. Mainly doing inspections and training those assigned to the buildings. My routes were supposed to be in my county and one other close-by county only. 2 weeks into the new job and I’m learning that I’ll be covering a much larger area than anticipated with an unsustainable amount of accounts. I have to use my personal vehicle which I initially agreed too since there is mileage reimbursement but now that my area is twice as large.

The lack of training and a lot being placed on me right from the get go is overwhelming.
Everyone with the company is new minus a couple other field managers, most don’t know what’s going on including my boss who is also only a couple months in. I am actively applying for new jobs now and trying to just power through each day for the paycheck even though the temptation to quit is high. I don’t want to quit and drain my savings and put stress on my spouse.

I find myself questioning if I should go crawling back to my old job, I left on good terms but only a couple weeks in now I don’t want to seem desperate or flaky. I was telling myself the first week that maybe I can just power through and it’ll get easier with time, but I’m wise enough to see the writing on the wall that this is not for me. Any tips or stories of similar experiences welcome. Thanks for reading.

Should I wait (THC FLOWER)

Just got a new job. I start next week. There was no pre employment test, just a background check. it’s a multi site maintenance position where I will be entering various businesses, some medical facilities or local government offices. In the handbook it stated something along the lines of “some clients may require additional background checks, fingerprinting or drug screens for site access” but my interviewer only mentioned fingerprinting when I asked him about the onboarding process (I did not ask specifically about drug tests obviously). I’m a very light/occasional user and got excited when I was offered the job so I could start indulging again since I had initially quit temporarily in case of a pre employment screen. Should I wait for a few weeks after starting to see how things go or do you think it’s safe to indulge now?
