Anyone else’s parents not glued to Fox News as much as they used to be?

Don’t get me wrong, my dad still watches it, but I feel like it’s nowhere near as much as it was post election and up through this past winter. I don’t know if I’m just imagining it or he’s really watching less of it. Part of me thinks it’s because things aren’t going as great as he would’ve hoped so watching Fox News doesn’t always provide that dopamine hit that it did when trump started a war with Iran, ICE was killing “violent protesters” in the streets, DOGE was “saving billions”. It’s been almost two years now and everything is more expensive and it’s pretty hard to ignore. Gas prices down the street from us are higher than I have ever seen. I’m not saying he’s moving on or abandoned his right wing beliefs. But I feel like a big part of that belief system is the “excitement” that your side is getting one over against the left. And the way things are currently, everyone is getting screwed. 10+ years of culture wars can only get you so far. They have the keys, they’re in the drivers seat, and this is where they’re taking us. Basically what I’m getting at is I think my dad may be watching Fox News less, I believe, because it’s not as fun being a trump supporter as it used to be. Sorry for the rambling rant

I was playing on survival when my game auto saved out of nowhere

I was in the middle of clearing trinity tower when out of nowhere I saw the autosave appear in the corner. Checked by going to load a previous save and there it was, my pov with a gun in my hands. Of all the time I’ve spent playing survival I could swear this has never happened before and can’t think of any reason why it did

The attitude you can get from redditors when seeking simple advice

Many times I’ve made a post seeking advice, just seeing if anyone has experience with what I’m dealing with. You know, just to hear different ideas/opinions/get a gauge on what I’m working with. And there is always someone in the comments going “it’s your fault, deal with it/stop making excuses/you’re stupid for coming to Reddit for advice”. As if the response I get on Reddit is the only thing I’m looking at or considering. Example: I had some issue with my drivers license, I was taking care of it but waiting to hear back from my insurance. In the mean time I made a post to see if anyone had dealt with something similar. Only a few responses but they were all calling me stupid, saying I need a lawyer not Reddit, I’m dumb for asking strangers on the internet for legal advice. Insurance cleared it up and I didn’t have any problems but god forbid you ask a question on Reddit. It irks me when people go out of their way to insult you on the internet. Like, you could have just kept scrolling. I admittedly also don’t like how much it bothers me

Living with my parents as I approach 30

So my now fiancée and I were living in an apartment a few years ago. My mom called out of the blue and offered that we move in with them to save money to put towards a house. Good idea at the time. We move in and cost of living never went down but I don’t need to explain that. I had a decent paying job but I was laid off and due to the health hazards and emotional strain of that job and the indifference of management, I want nothing to do with that industry. I have an avenue I’m exploring but I’m essentially starting from scratch. My fiancée makes decent money but not enough to live on our own. I feel like I’m going crazy most days. My parents’ bad habits are glaring and affect so much of my day to day routine, it’s impossible to ignore. They take days to get a single load of laundry done. They load the washer, maybe they move it into the dryer that day, probably not though. When it comes to dishes, their thing is filling a bowl with water and letting it sit. They would let it sit for days if it wasn’t for me going in and cleaning it myself. I even have my own sponge that I use because they don’t squeeze out the sponge to let it dry. They just let it sit in the sink and it stinks. My dad is retired so he’s always home but he pretty much just watches tv all day until he goes to get my mom from work. So I try to prepare a lunch for myself and I’ve got Fox News on the tv driving me up a fucking wall. My mom gets groceries delivered. She’ll tell me about it. My dad gets the order. She calls ME to ask if I got the delivery, I ask why she doesn’t ask dad and she says because he never answers. And if I don’t respond to her quick enough, she calls my fiancée at work and tells her to ask me if I got the delivery. She treats the phone like it’s a walkie-talkie. Not to mention she still shops like she’s feeding a family of five when really the groceries are for her and my dad (we buy our own groceries and keep them separate, as much as we can). And on top of that, they eat out almost everyday so most of the food she buys goes to waste. It’s just so frustrating being here. And then out of the blue my mom will send me a wall of text with random chores she needs me to complete. Not asking, no please and thank you, just telling me what needs to be done. Like she wants me to go outside and do a bunch of landscaping work in the backyard out of nowhere. And it always HAS to be done today because something is always happening the next day that in her mind is an arbitrary deadline that must be met before the world ends. I’m grateful for the opportunity that living here has provided especially when I lost my job, but my god, inflation is so out of control even the mental toll is going up

Whose parents have a weird parasocial relationship with trump?

I swear my dad acts sometimes like he’s an insider in the White House instead of a retiree in his early seventies. When trump is speaking on Fox News he has to sit down and watch it. When he gets a letter from “the office of president Donald j. Trump” (asking for money, I’m sure) he opens it carefully and neatly with a letter opener like he’s sharing a personal correspondence with him. And then he’ll talk to my uncle on the phone where all they do is repeat the talking points they heard on Fox News from the day before. And he’s always like “well trumps gonna take care of it/trumps gonna go after them/yada yada. I’ve heard him say that he thinks all the stuff trump does is just a distraction so he can do the real work behind the scenes. So you’re just making up a scenario where you’re acknowledging he says/does crazy/stupid stuff, but behind the scenes where no one can see, he’s plugging away getting real work done? You don’t know the man! He’s grifting you! And, jesus, I just had to listen to trump speak while I tried to prepare my lunch and the whole time I’m thinking how the fuck is this your savior? He sounds like a god damn idiot /rant

I believe they’ve been doing laundry the wrong way for so long they’ve gone nose blind and don’t even realize how messed up it is. One load of laundry takes a full 24 hours, sometimes it even bleeds over into a third day. They run the washer and then it sits…and sits…and sits some more. If I don’t transfer it over so I can do my own laundry it typically sits there until the next day with the lid shut. And it stinks. The dryer doesn’t help the stink either. And of course it sits in the dryer for another day. And cleaning their bed sheets? That’s a days long process. You can forget about doing laundry when they’re doing that. And sometimes they’ll run a load, and my mom will pick through what’s in the washer to get her work clothes and dry only her work clothes leaving the rest to sit in the washer. Just dry everything! How is that the way you do things? It’s not like she does it at the last minute, it’s the day before she needs it. The amount of times I need to shuffle my clothes around theirs just I can get some laundry done, it’s multiple times a week. I don’t know where I got my laundry habits from but it takes me no more than two hours to wash and dry my clothes. One time when I was really getting fed up with it, I decided to try to wait it out instead transferring it from the washer to the dryer for them. Three full days it sat in the washer with the lid shut. Three. Days. Why run the load if you have no intention of drying it for three whole days? AAAAHHHHHHHHHHH

I can’t even go down the street from my house without seeing people that can’t stay in their own lane, stop multiple car lengths back from the white line, cutting into turn lanes. The other day, literally 30 seconds from home, some Tesla driving the other way was so far into my lane I had to go into the gutter to avoid getting hit by them. I swear it’s getting worse by the day out there
