Any Supplements?

Hello, I’m trying to ascertain if supplements are common for the members of this sub to enhance their Pilates practice. I’m sure a lot of us use protein, but I’m more curious about creatine, pre-workout, etc.

She can do no wrong.

I love this girl so much, nothing is ever her fault. I don’t care if she steals food, eats toilet paper, or begs at the table. She’s perfect.

Learning about the severity of my high blood pressure has caused me so much stress, I worry that I’m going to have a stroke like every single day.

I am an active, high-energy 45 year old woman who is a mindful eater and works out 6 days a week, doesn’t smoke, and almost never drinks. I don’t eat fast food, junk food, or drink soda. I could stand to lose a few pounds, as I’m 5’6” and 167lbs, but I’m working on that. My PCP just started me on Lisinopril 10mg, which hasn’t lowered my BP since I started it a few days ago. Should I see a cardiologist? I’m so stressed about this, which is not helping my BP

ETA: I know that these cuffs are not the best. My numbers are very similar at the doctors office which I’ve been to twice in the last week. For example, yesterday my reading was 201/106, taken manually by a nurse.

Now, here’s something I’ve never seen before.

I’m referring to the small gray one in the middle of the photo. Spotted in Southern California

Looking for a dermatologist

I’m looking for a dermatologist, preferably in South Temecula, who isn’t going to tell me I can’t wear makeup. I’ve never been before and I have some stuff going on with my face.

My son is 500 lbs and I worry about his health constantly.

There’s a lot to the story, but I will try to keep it concise.

My son is 23, lives at home, is an absolute sweetheart, does chores when asked, works full-time remote for low pay, doesn’t drive, and the heartbreaking part: he’s 6’2” and nearly 500 lbs.

He still has pretty good mobility, but struggles to fit in most cars, gets winded doing the dishes, and seems to be pretty uncomfortable out in public. There’s no way he could physically go to the mall for an afternoon and walk around. His entire social life is gaming, but he is friendly and sociable when needed.

My son gets fast food delivered and an enormous amount of candy too. My husband and I (his stepdad) have tried to ban fast food delivery a few times and encouraged him to get his license many, many times.

We have talked to him about the seriousness of his health dozens of times and how his youth is on his side. I spent two years trying to get him to the doctor, they prescribed Contrave which made him nauseous so he quit taking it after losing about 20 lbs.

My husband says I’m enabling him by allowing him to live at home for free. My husband thinks he needs a deadline to move out. My son has saved a pretty decent amount of money and it is trying to invest a little bit in the stock market, but doesn’t really make enough to rent a studio apartment on his own.

I think my son does have some trauma, as his father and I divorced when he was only six, his father was not present for several years and then when my son started having behavioral issues we sent him to live with his dad in another state, which we thought would be very short-term and ended up being five years long (age 13-18). My son have been overweight, pretty much his whole life, but nothing like this until he was with his dad. My son came back to visit regularly and I also visited super regularly like nearly every month. We stayed very close.

My son did go through a very serious depression during the isolation of Covid, we got him a yellow lab puppy, who was pretty much the center of his universe, in a horrific and tragic turn of events she got out into the street and was hit by a car and killed at about 18 months old. After this, I urged him to move back and he did. He has been living with us for about five years now.

Thank you if you have stuck around to read all of this, what can I do to help my son? Obviously I’ve encouraged medication, encouraged him to go to the gym, encouraged meal planning, and he actually has tried all of that but he’s probably consuming about four king-size candy bars a day on top of pretty large portions of food. Currently he’s not going to the gym, but he has switched to diet soda, and at least two of his meals per day are portion controlled from a meal plan. He has to give up the candy and fast food and start moving his body to course correct.

Any advice is appreciated.

ETA: I have been trying to get him to therapy since he was young. He went a few times and hated it. I agree he needs it.

My food pictured here is chicken breast with cabbage, sweet peppers, jalapeños, with Kewpie sesame dressing.

How much does it cost to charge?

I haven’t used a public charger since my free charging with Electrify America ended. I am requesting a credit at work to cover the cost of charging, but I don’t actually know how much it cost. Could someone tell me how much it would cost on average to charge a Q8 etron from 20% to 80% at a typical public charger please?

We are in a Shopping Desert.

I’ve had this conversation with many people who are incredulous and baffled how poor our shopping options are, especially for clothing in this area.

There is so much traffic at our mall, imagine if it had great stores. Many, many people still prefer to shop in person for clothing, shoes, and cosmetics.

I’m sure the real reason is because we are an hour drive to so many great shopping options, but there are so many places with much lower household income, and far fewer people with much better shopping.

Just curious, can you name three stores that sell clothing that you think should exist here that just don’t?

1. Anthropologie
2. Vuori or Alo
3. Zara (and I don’t really even shop there, but I’m shocked we don’t have one). I would prefer Aritzia, but I understand why we don’t have one here.

I would say Nordstrom, but I know they are not really opening full line stores at this time.

I’m not the REI demographic, but I do think that would do exceptionally well here also.

Bath & Body Works Cedar Falls, IA

This BBW has the same facade as when it opened in 1995ish. This mall only has a few stores open.

Frida’s Taqueria

I was getting strawberries from the farm stand and noticed that the signage is down. I thought this place was almost ready to open, now I’m thinking it’s not happening at all.

Phil’s or Lucille’s?

The power was out at Phil’s tonight, so we went to Lucille’s. My go-to BBQ meal is tri-tip, Cole slaw, and cornbread. My ranking is based on my favorite BBQ meal.

Lucille’s may have slightly better tri-tip, and I like the way they cut it.

Phil’s Cole slaw and cornbread is vastly better. Not even in the same category.

I’m sure there are more “hole in the wall” places, but I’m comparing these two.

My husband devoured his pulled pork sandwich and fries. He really likes the biscuits too, which I would like without the sugar on top.

Loose dogs on de Portola

I could not get a picture and I did try to double back to either try to scoop them up or get a picture but there was probably about a 30 pound dark possibly black colored dog with ears that stick up and a larger probably 45 or 50 pound dog that looked to be brindle with ears that also stick up right by the hospital running loose. I doubled back a couple times saw a lady that lived on de Portola asked them if they were her dog and she said she believes one of them may have been hit. I hope if you are looking for your dogs that you see this.

After the first time, I saw the two dogs, I could not get a visual on them again. If these are your dogs, sorry I really did try to find them.

Does it abruptly end? Did you get extra days? Do you get offers for preferred pricing? My 2 year anniversary is in 3 weeks and I’m dreading it. I have a charger at home too, but it’s not a 350 Hyper charger.

As a woman who loves to shop, I am excited about Tecovas opening in old town and hoping it brings better shopping to old town in general. I would hate to see old town go totally corporate, but I think, for example, a Free People or Levi’s store would do amazingly well in old town.

That being said, I saw all the original announcements and the windows are covered like there’s construction going on, but it doesn’t seem like there’s much movement. Does anyone in here know someone that works in either of the stores on either side or maybe someone in the city or someone involved with construction that knows what the status of this is?
