Imagine if equipment was stored in buildings, be it supply hubs or purpose built arsenals, and you could lose it or capture it as the front moves? It would also put a hard cap to how much equipmemt you can store. Although it would also have its drawbacks I guess.
This is something that bothers me. The UK starts with all their colonies as a single unified market, but that was never the case. Especially for India which is something that can almost break the game. Whenever the UK loses India in the game, at least temporarily, their economy collapses. I have played as the UK several times and the first thing I do is give India their own market, the effects are negative in the short term, but if you do it right off eventually you can rebuild your economy and now it will be much better since you will have lower prices and your SoL will increase, as well as being able to use tariffs on India. And if the time does come and you lose India, your economy will not collapse.
I am trying to get into EU5, but I keep coming back to EU4. It just feels so satisfying to play. But, why? What makes this game so good? Is it the best gsg ever made?

For me, without the need of adding new factions, we could get some pretty cool stuff:

Btw I am not complaining, I prefer SP to be harder. I am playing historical as the USSR right now and while I've been doing relatively well agains the Axis I just can't deal with their air force. It's 1942 and combined they have around 5k fighters. Maybe even more. I have around 3k which is not bad, but they are all basically landed because whenever I put them on a region the Axis sends all their fighters there, and also I still have many debuffs that make my planes take tons of casualties.
I was waiting for the Western Allies to make a landing in Europe so that they take some of the heat but it is not happening yet and basically I am all on my own. I think in the past patches they did not build fighters as aggressively as they do now.
Considering that actually close to half of the troops in most theaters of WW2 were actually not in the front but in the back doing mostly logistic stuff, do you think that logistics (convoys, trains and trucks in supply hubs) should use manpower?
I think it'd be interesting to see HOI5 extend a few years more into early Cold War, so that we can see some events like the end of the Chinese Civil War (although it does have content in the game), the Korean War, Indochina Wars, Arab-Israeli wars, etc. Especially since in HOI4 you get a lot of cool stuff in the late game that you never get to use, like supersonic jets, surface to air missiles, ballistic missiles, etc.
Why 1954 and no other year? well I think that's the point where both the Eastern and Western bloc had thermonuclear weapons and basically there was no possible way of going to war without risking nuclear fallout, and also it coincides with the end of Indochina war, start of decolonization in most of Africa and Asia, etc. However it could be a different year as well
Whenever I try to create missions with lots of different squads it makes it feel like they are all independent units making decisions with no cohesion. I was wondering if there is any way of creating larger units like platoons or companies so that the AI acts less independently. I feel like this game is too focused on squad combat but this is a lot of wasted potential as it has everything to recreate up to battalion level action.
If you have ever used height sliders you probably know that they make shorter sims have weird legs. Is there any way to fix this yet?
Considering how thinly spread, overstretched and out of supply the Axis forces end up after Case Blue, and how the Soviets managed to have air superiority during Operation Uranus which would be unthinkable in a different context, it feels like the best move for Germany and its allies would have been to simply stop advancing, dig up and defend from the Soviets while staying in the same place they hwere at January 1942.
I guess the obvious answer is when you cannot produce that equipment because you don't have enough building slots. But in what other situations is it worth it?
What is a good marine template? I used to think that I should give amtracs to all my marine battalions but I've realized that it makes them much worse in rough terrain. However if you give them some amtracs while keeping a part of the leg marine battalions, you get an interesting combination that is good at rough terrain and very good at amphibious landing, river crossing, etc. Also cheaper. What else would you add to these units? Speed is not really as important.
IMO a mod set in the 1500s in the mediterranean where you have france, spain, ottomans, venetians, barbary pirates and you can sail like in viking conquest but with cannons.
