[Online][SavageWorlds][10pm PDT][Free][Inclusive] Let's Get Savage!

FAQ

  • What's happening here?

I'm running a weekly Savage Worlds game for a fine group of people!

  • Okay, but what is the game about?

To be determined. I've pitched high-concept campaigns before, spent a lot of energy homebrewing settings and fine-tuning rules, but this time I want to focus on finding players I really click with and deciding the campaign together.

I'm willing to run published Plot-Point Campaigns like East Texas University (I have Fresh Blood), Legend of Ghost Mountain, or Rippers Resurrected. Other published campaigns are on the table, but I have no desire to run Deadlands, Savage Pathfinder, or Savage Rifts. I'm also willing to cook up a homebrew fantasy, sci-fi, or science fantasy campaign.

  • When is this happening?

Two-hour sessions, once a week, starting at 10pm PDT. Day of the week TBD based on player availability.

  • Where is this happening?

roll20 with Discord for voice and between-session chat

  • What should I know about you as a GM?

I run a PG-13 game. I give and expect basic respect from all players and between all players.

I try to keep it around 50/50 action-combat/social-investigation. If your character only participates in one of those and ignores the other, I won't have a lot of sympathy for your boredom or patience with your disruptions.

Character death is a possibility, but I take pains to make it unlikely. If you ignore the warnings and refuse to retreat, the dice fall where they fall.

Help me find a Hindrance

I swear I read this somewhere, but now I can't find it, something to the effect of:

> The character treats their Smarts as one die lower for the purpose of determining the cost to advance Skills other than Notice and Survival.

Some sort of 'practical mindset' - not stupid, but unconcerned with abstract ideas.

Say Yes to Drugs

I've never used recreational drugs. I have no intention of ever using recreational drugs. For reasons, I need to have the option of writing knowledgeably about that experience.

Suggest me a book that effectively conveys the druggie experience and/or effectively argues why someone *should* use recreational drugs.

Not 'cyberpunk', but...

I'm working on a project, and I need additional inspiration and better ways to articulate what I'm imagining.

  • Sort of 'near future' sci-fi technology: lasers, robots, minor and subtle cybernetic enhancements, genetically engineered pets. No time travel or FTL.

  • 'Benign' totalitarian rulers. They're not genociding segments of the population, but the media is heavily controlled and surveillance is pervasive.

  • Protagonists have to 'hack' hardware and steal supplies to get things done. Like, everyone has a state-issued smartphone/AI assistant/wiretap/tracking device, and they have to 'jailbreak' their devices to still be able to function in society without surveillance.

IWTL 'power chord' piano

I took piano lessons as a child, and the method seemed very 'horizontal' - I was taught to think in terms of playing a melody, and more advanced pieces are essentially just playing more melodies simultaneously.

But listening to piano in pop music sounds more 'vertical' - treating the piano more like a guitar and slamming chords, perhaps with a little arpeggiation.

What resources teach piano in a vertical/guitarish way?
