Flammable in Seattle from the archive

Just came across this tiny little clip of dance church from 2021 and it filled me with joy. Flammable has been a house music weekly, on Sunday night no less, in Seattle since 1994. The crowd is mature, has been coming together for decades (Flam Fam) and is there ONLY to dance. True spiritual healing.

I ❤️ Flammable

Promotional video for the taser gloves ICE is planning to to deploy to agents

G.L.O.V.E. quickly transforms into a CD3 (Conductive Distraction and De-escalation Device) when used within the Force Continuum to supplement existing tools for law enforcement, corrections, security, EMS and the military.

It is available as an "invisible partner" to enhance the user's effectiveness when operating within their agencies' already established tactics, techniques and procedures. This is why we call the G.L.O.V.E. the “Force Multiplier” and how it operates within the Force Continuum as “The New Protocol in Peace Keeping.”

What would cause a repeated daily outage?

I got a friend signed up for Ziply. It was a new install and the tech came and everything was working perfectly. It also works perfectly most of the time.

Thing is, almost every day her WAN connection goes down roughly between the hours of 3pm and 5pm. She complained about it to me a few times but it was never reproducible and it always came back up by the time she talked to me about it.

Well, today I was over at her place helping her around her house with Netflix on, and a little after 3 it just went dead.

The ONT had one solid green light and one erratically blinking green light. No Alarms. Just no stable uplink. I had her power cycle the router and ONT and nothing changed.

I opened a chat window and was talking with a person for an extended period when they just abruptly ended that chat (Ziply's customer service issues are another matter) and by the time I got to the troubleshooting phase after another lengthy chat, the uplink spontaneously resumed. Blue blinking lights on the ONT as if nothing was ever amiss. She says this happens almost every single day.

I'm super confused because once I got my installation done I've had zero drops, so something's clearly wrong with her connection. I just don't know what, and the chat agent seemed baffled too.

They said they'd make a note on the account and if it happens again to chat back. I already know it's going to happen again, I'm just looking for clues on how to expedite resolution.

Cool. Existing customers are getting mailed notification about new lower pricing + free hardware.

I upped my service level and cut my monthly bill back in March(?), but it's good Ziply is notifying the plan changes to less-informed existing customers.

It took a while, but better late than never.

Received my wallpaper sample from A24

It's thick and textured! This is legitimate wallpaper.

Crazy.

Frustrated by Obsession but enjoyed it despite itself

Obsession is extremely predictable. Every scary scenario was telegraphed far far ahead of time and I spent the entire film waiting for the characters to catch up with what was going on. I knew how it was going to end up as soon as the stakes were outlined.

The cast is talented and delivered great performances, but the script was a mish mash of a dozen other Monkey Paw films and television episodes, so there was nothing new or surprising here for anyone who has ever watched The Twilight Zone or Tales from the Darkside.

All that being said, I liked the vibe of the film; it was pleasant to watch. The direction, photography, and emotional tone were all excellent, so I'll be keeping an eye on Curry Barker.

If you like Kane's take on Backrooms, maybe you'd enjoy a disturbing novel that has many of the same themes.

Of course I'm talking about House of Leaves.

4chan user Black August, who wrote the original Backrooms description, cites House of Leaves as a direct inspiration for the concept of a "Six hundred million square miles of randomly segmented empty rooms to be trapped in".

It's a novel that's exceptionally hard to explain. It's like if you described a dog to someone who has never seen one and asked them to draw it. ;) But if I were to try, I'd say it's an existential horror novel, about a scholarly analysis, about a documentary film, about a house that's infinitely bigger on the inside than it is on the outside. It's a literary and psychological maze.

So many themes are a direct overlay between the novel and Kane's Backrooms content, especially the new film; it's quite remarkable.

It's a notoriously strange reading experience and is considered the granddaddy of modern liminal horror literature. Some describe it as a haunted house in book format.

It's not for the faint of heart, but if you can hack it, it's incredibly rewarding and will only deepen your appreciation for Kane's version of Backrooms.

GOOD NEWS: My local theater has moved Backrooms from one screen to THREE SCREENS!

I bought my ticket for the 28th the day they went on sale and I kept an eye on how many other people had reserved seats as well. Until a week ago there were only one or two people in each showing.

Now the originally offered showings are all 75%+ full and the number of available showtimes have tripled. What's more, some of the showings are now on the BIGGEST screen in the multiplex instead of just the small side theaters.

THE MOMENTUM IS REAL.

Captured from Wendigoon's whiteboard in his recent three hour deep dive video. I added Clark's known visit time from the trailers which is only a month after *Static Dead End*.

It's really interesting when you lay it all out like that.
