TEF Canada Listening

Hi everyone!

I noticed something about the TEF Listening exam and am not sure if am the only one here. FYI I hate the listening section and its been my weakest one. And when i gave my first attempt, i got clb 4 in it. But that was last year. And then due to some personal issues, I had to stop french but since like may I’ve been getting back into it.

Now, I was doing a mock test with my tutor and I remember I got like 34/40 and this was the first time ever I got 34 in a listening test. I was at like 15-25 last year. And this was ofc a shock. And i thought the test was just too easy. No….I did a few more tests and the results were 29, 33, and 40/40 too. Is the listening section getting easier???? Theres parts where they are saying the answer in the audio word by word in the answer options.

Has anyone experienced this?

FYI I used TEFcanadapractice with my tutor which made me think because it’s not an official prep website, it might be easier. Until I did some tests on the TEFCanada.info website and it was the same thing there too.

Got my first ever scleral lenses!

Hello!

I got my very first scleral lenses today and after having a phlyctenule in my eye for over 8 months and a scar for another 2, I finally got scleral lenses today. It felt really weird and itchy today and my eyes feel slightly achy which i believe is normal. But am excited to see their benefits over the next couple of days.

The best part of it all was putting the lenses in the hydrogen peroxide solution and it was so cool to see it fizz up. After a whole 10 months, I am finally able to see 20 20 and I feel like we take things like this for granted and having this problem in my eye for a whole year has been absolutely hell. But it finally comes to a pause with scleral lenses!💃💃

How much jumping rope is good enough?

Hey all,

I need some advice on how much of a jump rope workout with a calorie deficit is good enough . I actually have to prepare for an exam and I work full time so its hard to fit in working out. I’ve tried it way too many times and I get burnt out so quick.

Is like a 20 mins jump rope workout daily good enough for someone trying to lose weight as an 80kg female?

I know a lot of people advice strength training but tbh, it’s tiring, mentally demanding, and you need a routine. Whereas jump rope is much easier imo, and the routine can be simplified as well. I usually do a workout video by jumpropedudes, but again what do you guys think?

My coworkers are nice but not necessarily good people

To begin with, I love my job, like a lot. However, even tho my coworkers are nice people, I believe they’re aren’t good people. To begin with, they are super nice and friendly to your face n will help when needed, but are also very quick to make jokes about you or talk shit when you’re not there. I noticed this when one of my coworkers quit the job due to some personal reasons. And as soon as they left, I could hear these ppl talking shit about them.

This makes me feel like they do it about me too and its for sure, like 100%. Also, I feel like they’re so fucking out of touch with the fact that life can be hard for some people and not a bed of roses like theirs. Mind you, am not saying they dont have problems, but when you start judging people when they are struggling, yeah you’re basically a shit person imo. For ex, I came to my country of residence as an immigrant and the coworkers grew up here and they grew up rich.

This one time, I heard a coworker telling another coworker “You buy clothes from Walmart?” Like yeah?? Tf is the problem with walmart. And ik it sounds like a small thing but they judge you for it. Like bro, you don’t gotta pay rent, groceries, and basically zero living expenses. They do drive to work so maybe gas but yeah. Like one of my paycheque is basically expenses. Or buying stuff from amazon is like ur committing a fucking crime.

Its just wrong to assume people are just fine. And yeah, try making a mistake and you’re simply the gossip between certain people. Like dude, even you aren’t a perfectionist. I remember when I joined the job, telling a coworker that I was just having a bit difficulty in understanding a few thinga cuz I did things differently at my old workplace and they looked at me like am lying. Like wtf? And then went ahead and told another coworker, i know this cuz i overheard them.

Am not listening to peoples convos cuz i want to but its a small place so u hear everything.

Or like the only expression thats acceptable is HAPPY? Like cmon, how fake does it have to be?

Do you guys experience this? Cuz tbh, even tho its small stuff, it happens repeatedly and its annoying as hell.

How to get over something?

Hello,

I hope whoever is reading this, is doing great!

I have been struggling with my mental health for almost a year and a half now. I didn’t have the best childhood growing up. Not entirely bad but it was hostile, unpredictable and stressful. Once I fucked up big time, and it was something any parent would get insanely mad about. I’d rather not share the details but it wasn’t drugs, or getting pregnant or so on. It was a stupid teenage thing. Anyway, when my parents found out, they were FURIOUS. And as am getting yelled, my mom says “I wish you died when you were a kid”. FYI, I got really sick once as a baby and basically yeah, I almost died then but I survived. I’ve been taking therapy for about 10ish months and I’ve opened up a lot abt my childhood but even after opening up, I still feel like if theres one thing I can never let go of, or get over, its that comment.

And ik 10 months isn’t thaaattt much of time in therapy, but still. How does one get over this? Or do we not?

My relation with my mom is good now, I mean she really tries to listen and be nice. But again, that doesn’t erase the comment. I was 16 i think at the time. And growing up, marks mattered so so much, to a point where you could pass all exams and do average on one n thats it, mood off. And I get that all parents want their kids to excel, I would want mine too but yelling and hitting is never really the solution. If anything, it only builds resentment. In grade 4, I was prolly like 9-10 maybe, I told my friends I hate my mom. And I don’t think thats smth normal for a 10 year old to say.

And my friends and all, I’ve had shitty ppl as my friends my whole like almost, I never felt like I fit in. And they mostly used me cuz I was often first in class so I coukd help em in homework n all. N then fast forward to college where I was almost 90% of the time alone. N even the so called “friends” I made, would only talk abt assignments n all so not really friends even.

And it feels like, I don’t belong to either home or outside and sometimes its a very lonely feeling to carry all that.

Thank you for reading :)
