Super clean skin taper and fade, I was hunting for a new shop that isnt overpriced for a haircut and I found it. Didnt see them pop up on here in my searches so wanted to give them some love.
[SOLD] This one's for the community: Someone out there dreams of a pair of boots but cant swing the $300 new or even $150 used. I'd rather these go to someone with a passion than let Goodwill mark them up like a mfer. I only ask that you actually intend to wear them, not turn them into some BS instagram potted plant project.
To everyone who is a collector and already owns a pair of boots, let someone else who doesn't already own a set have an opportunity.

I have my LLC and have done some side work with good friends/acquaintences. If I branch out I want to be covered, but I never took business school, no one teaches HOW to get insurance coverage or what the right amount would be.
Or do you even need it, and instead setup clauses in the contract or go IPD route?
I accidentally started a habit, When I travel to a new country I try to find a watch from that country of origin. First happy accident was Japan, came back with a Casio Gshock GM2100. This trip was to Thailand, and wouln't you know Simpl is a Thai company out of Bangkok I've never heard of or seen before but they had these 2 bodies that caught my eye.
I've been on the lookout for a single hand watch. I love how different and niche they are. Looked at Meistersingers and love the Otsuka Lotec no.6. However they are just out of my price range. Slow, Botta, and Luch just weren't scratching that itch for me.
I saw the Simpl ONE and it was exactly what I was looking for. Clean, minimalist, dressy, and actually effective at telling time. The Simpl COMPASS is a more traditional 2 hand with a mini second dial, and I just liked it too. The design without typical lugs, and having the nato slots machined into the case just made it stand out to me. It'll look sick on a full blackout nato strap, and I like the "outdoorsy" feel of the olive leather it came with. I'm going to have fun with the nato strap options, probably follow up with my final choices.
Quality: I am super happy with the bodies. At ~$175 usd each the machining and design are both super clean. Fit and Finish is excellent absolutely zero complaints. The straps I will be upgrading, they just feel like a placeholder compared to something that actually inspires confidence and has a texture and finish to match the face designs. Which is fine, I feel like that's half the fun of nato compatibility. ONE uses Swiss Ronda and COMPASS uses Japanese Miyota which I imagine aren't top of the line mechanisms to brag about but at least they are well tested and common.
Like I said, never seen these before and they're a deviation from the typical. I know they're not everyone's cup of tea, but for me they are perfect.

APPEARANCE: Medium (not as dark as I prefer)
NOSE: Surprising initial hit of Caramel Butterscotch popcorn, then overall sweet corn ethanol. Grape soda, and candy green apple as it opened up
PALATE: Medium to medium thin and balanced on the palate. Flavors come in front and mid heavy and do not overstay on the backend. The journey is short and effective. Well bodied but is not oily or particularly thick. Whats remarkable is how balanced and full of potential it is. No particular flavor overpowers the profile, just a decent well rounded YOUNG bourbon. The proof is 126 but drinks closer to 100 (I might be biased) If there's a takeaway it's "smooth and clean" especially for a 4yr.
FINISH: Short and nothing to write home about. The potential leaves you pondering what it could become.
RATING: 6.0/10 (neck pour take with a grain of salt)
PURCHASE AGAIN: Maybe /keep onhand
OVERALL: I like it and will follow up with a body pour later in the bottle. My preferences are odd but I always look for character and this has the potential to open up. It has strong foundations and for a 4yr it outperforms a lot of 6yr or 8ys that have been so simple and transparent I'm like "ok but never again". Never in the process was I offended or confused, just looking for the finish or primary flavor to take me home. It is remarkably balanced at a first pour. IMO it is worth the $70 and a great entry into high proof complex bourbons as a "baseline" comparison. It's missing age and a defining element (again 4yr bourbon). Til Next Time.
