Do you think Survivor will ever cast a bigger celebrity than Jimmy Johnson?

Or whoever you think the biggest pre-Survivor celebrity they've had is. The argument could certainly be made for Lisa Whelchel or maybe even Jeff Kent, but considering half the country sees Jimmy Johnson on TV every Sunday for a third of the year, I'm going with him.

I think it would take a lot to get a real, household name on the show. First off, there would probably be some contractual hoops to jump through, especially if it is someone who is still at the height of their career. They have to accept the fact that they are giving up a month of work for at most a million dollars, which is probably a fraction of what they'd make during that time anyway. And they have to be willing to accept the fact that their status immediately increases their odds of being voted out early.

But, if they are a big enough fan of the show, I could see it happening where someone throws their hat in the ring. Amazingly enough, Jimmy Johnson wasn't a recruit - he wasn't cold-approached by casting; he was a fan of the show who submitted an application/video the normal way. Now, did his celebrity status get his application ushered right to the front of the line? I wouldn't doubt it. But the fact remains that we've had it happen once. I could see it happening to someone even bigger.

"We'll have a detective remind you."

I laughed so hard when Chris said this. I know it's not the modern portrayal of a detective, but when I heard it I couldn't help but imagining a Sherlock Holmes-looking mfer looking at Chris's call records with a magnifying glass.

If someone told you in 2019...

that they can see the future and that Tony wins the all-winners season and Aubry wins the "legends" season, what's you're reaction? Because I'm scoffing the hell out of Tony even making the merge in the winners season, let alone sniffing the F3, and really doubting that if Aubry can't beat Michele/Tai/Sarah/Brad/Troy, that she's winning against legit legends.

Was The Black Cauldron ever shown on TV in the 80s and 90s?

It was released theatrically in 1985, and, due largely to it being a financial bomb and critical disappointment, was never reissued theatrically and didn't receive its first home video release until 1998. I know that most of Disney's animated films pre-Little Mermaid saw many years between their theatrical and first home video release (even those first released theatrically during the home video era), but most of them had theatrical reissues, or were shown on TV. Was The Black Cauldron even shown on TV before its first VHS release, or was it just totally unseen by human eyes for 13 years?

What Survivor is this for you?

Sugar is the first one that comes to mind for me. She ran circles around everyone strategically but played an unwinnable social game. Obviously Russell Hantz is another great example for similar reasons. But I'd love to see other answers.

Has anyone else had this glitch happen to them?

When I plug in my iPhone to sync to my iTunes library, it updates the play count in my iTunes library, but it doesn't sync my new/edited music to my phone, even though I have it set to do so. When I either manually click "sync," or unplug/plug it back in, it does sync the new music, but it updates the play count in my iTunes library a second time since the last sync, effectively doubling the plays since my last sync. I am OCD and have meticulously kept track of my play count for years, but over the past nine months or so (the length of time this has been happening), the play count across my entire library has basically lost the plot and that's been really hard for me to handle. I have contacted Apple twice about this and they basically threw up their hands and said "never heard of this before." I've made sure I have the latest version of every necessary software and hardware. I have tried all sorts of troubleshooting fixes and suggestions, but nothing has helped. I have never seen any other kinds of reports of this online. Please, someone help!

Why is "What the hell guys?!" so iconic?

Don't get me wrong, even I think it is, but I just can't put my finger on why. It's such a standard human reaction to being betrayed by someone and yet, something about Kellie saying it just feels so iconic.

Survivor contestants who consistently mispronounced another contestant's name.

Tony consistently pronounced Sandra with a hard "a" sound, so it almost sounded like "SONdra." And Erik always put the emphasis on the wrong syllable when he said Shambo's name ("shamBEAUX"). Who else?

My idea for a returnee season - Survivor: Third Time's the Charm

Comprised entirely of contestants who have played exactly twice, but never won. This would be my dream cast for such an idea. Who would you like to see?

Aren't you glad Survivor ditched its "loud, opinionated, obnoxious former sports star in/near his 40s" era?

Maybe seems like an oddly specific archetype niche to have gone through a phase with, but to put it in perspective we had Jeff Kent, Brad Culpepper, John Rocker and Scot Pollard all in a 3.5-year span.

And just to preemptively address it, yeah, my understanding is that Brad Culpepper is a much more decent guy than those other three outside of the show, but on the show his attitude was more adjacent to theirs than, say, Gary Hogeboom or Cliff Robinson, who fit the age and former sports star points but were wholesome kings.

What other Disney character has been so heavily promoted for a film that they had such a small role in?

I finally saw Hoppers over the weekend and I was very disappointed at how small Tom Lizard's role was, given how heavily he was used in marketing and promotions. Like, he was in a lot of scenes, but he was never the focus of a scene and had very minimal dialogue. It got me wondering what other heavily-advertised characters have shared this fate. I thought of B.E.N. from Treasure Planet, who was by far the most heavily-promoted character from that film despite not appearing until well over halfway through the film, but once he was introduced he was at least the focus of a few scenes, had a bit of plot relevance, and had plenty of dialogue (some would even say way too much). I can't think of another character who had as bad a ratio of promotion to role size as Tom.

What's something that warps your perception of how long this show has been on?

For me it's that Gabler is younger than Alex Bell.

Who is an obscure player you think had the potential to be a legend if things had gone a little differently?

I think Brian Corridan would have been the original Todd if he had managed to make the merge.

Which winners would have been booted had their tribe lost the final pre-merge immunity challenge?

San Juan del Sur - There is a SLIGHT chance Natalie goes under these circumstances since most of her alliance was on the other tribe, but funny enough it's more likely Jeremy, which would make him miss the jury and potentially reduce his chances of coming back for Cambodia

Kaoh Rong - Definitely think there's a strong chance Michele goes here.

Millennials vs. Gen X - It's probably Taylor but I think there's a small chance he convinces Jess and Ken to get out Adam.

Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers - The Healers had the majority on Yawa so there's definitely a chance Ben goes.

Island of the Idols - Tommy was, at that point, in the minority with no advantages or idols so definitely a chance he goes.

41 - Although people who were out there say it would have been Sydney, everything we saw in the edit says it would have been Erika.

42 - Maryanne definitely gets the votes, so it comes down to whether or not she plays her idol.

43 - Probably Elie but I think there's a small chance Sami and/or Owen turn on Gabler pre-merge.

50 - Again, Aubry almost certainly gets the votes, so it comes down to whether she plays her idol or not.
