Do men cry? Should men cry?
What's the opinion of the men in this forties group? Women's opinions also welcome. It's an open discussion and there is no one or the other right response here so be kind to the one who may not agree with your views.
Cooking at home everyday
After all the scandals coming out of fssai raids we are cooking at home. Got a cook for 5k who cooks 1 curry, 1 sabzi and 18 rotis or 35 puris a day. It's saving us unimaginable monies. We also shop for vegs the morning of the day we are cooking them. It's a great experience to almost exclusively eai home food. The 5k to cook is wasool by saving immensely on eating out.
The joys of balcony garden...
Karela ug raha hai.... Now the worry is how to cut it as it's grown outside the net. How many here do some form of balcony gardening? I mean beyond the typical plants.
What are some words and phrases that we use or used as millennials that those in their 20s and 30s don't?
I can think of 'same pinch', 'chamaat marega', 'morning morning what happened' (subah subah kya hua). Somf of this might be bambaiyya but these are getting rare. Have sgme more but waiting to hear from you guys.
What is the one thing that you have stopped spending on in your forties?
I used to purchase tshirts often, now have almost completely stopped. Recycling old ones as they are fresh and not too used. It's a small saving but does save a lot of space in the house.
Any man here who is secretly mourning his parents death even after decades of their passing?
(Pardon my poor Eng, its not my first language). My dad passed away unexpectedly 24 years ago, I was just about 23 years or so. I wasnt particularly close to dad, however we did have a warm relationship. I didnt express any emotions at his funeral. However, post his death for about 2 years I cried every night in secret. And every few days post that till today, I still cry. I am not depressed. I live a very fulfilled life. Yet am not sure why I am unable to overcome my father's death even after 2.5 decades. Note that I am a very jovial person, content with what I have achieved and I do not seek much from life. Yet this is something I am not yet over. So my question is, do men experience this or do I have some deep emotional issues.
Strange experience at Mangalore airport on way to dubai
Was departing from Mangalore airport to Dubai. The CISF Guy checking passport at entry was a Kannadiga and spoke to me in Tulu. I am from Mumbai so don't know the language. When I mentioned to him he smiled and asked me if I have eaten lunch in English. I was puzzled why he is asking that. Is that some sort of a local courtesy statement or an attempt to ask for some bribe? I smiled, said not yet eaten lunch and went in. I had a similar experience in another airport with the immigration guy and he was clearly asking for lunch money bribe from me. Not sure what happened here in Mangalore.
What is the one thing you hate to do but do it due to social expectations?
Men are expected to love cricket and sports. But I am the only male in my family who hates cricket or any sport. In the past whenever my I said that to my guy friends or male relatives they would look at me suspiciously. Hence I started keeping up with sports just to take part in conversations and not feel left out, to bond with my friends. However, sitting through a sports match is a torture and despite knowing so much about sports, I still hate cricket, football or any sport :(
Forties decade flew so fast
Is it just me or does the forties decade feel like it's the fastest moving decade of our life? Maturing families, career growth, retirement planning and family responsibilities just sped up the decade. Was forty just yesterday and now hitting closer to fifty 😔
The beautiful internal roads of mira road in the rains.
It's so relaxing to see so many trees in some parts of mira road.
Overflow lakes water
Just curious, when a lake overflows in Mumbai, what happens to the overflowing water? Is it collected in any way or any place? Is it directed to rivers? Or does it just flow away and is wasted? Am wondering as Vihar and Tulsi are overflowing yet there is a shortage in Lake water capacity so far. Is the overflow put to better use?
Stray dog problems in Bikarnakatte a shocking nightmare.
Hi I am new to Mangalore and I noticed a huge stray dog issue in Bikarnakatte where I stay. There were atleast 15 dogs on one street and they aggressively intimidate people, chase bikes, bark at night etc in the residential areas. Going out early morning or after dark is a nightmare. Doesn't the municipality manage stray dogs issues well? In Mumbai this has largely got controlled via neutering etc but surprisingly didn't feel so in Mangalore.
Fifa
Football fans, do you think Fifa is truly corrupt after the Messi and other incidents? Or are they coincidences?
