Free trial only allows one class per studio???

I have 48 credits in my 2 week trial which is extremely generous. But the studios near me only allow 1 class—I have to be a member to take multiple classes. Doesn’t this defeat the purpose of a trial period?? I can only use 2 credits because only a few studios are part of classpass now. Anyone else experience this?

Disappointed with Kettl

I just wanted to share a differing opinion here. I respect the owner, his vision, and company. His website is elegant and beautiful, his story draws you in. But the matcha just isn’t great. I tried the Sukou, Hinata, Kiyona. It’s proof to me that western and eastern palettes are very different. I’m Asian and I’ve been drinking matcha for almost 30 years. Ippodo is the gold standard obviously. But I prefer even Meiyo to Kettl.

Both Ippodo and Meiyo are Japanese companies and their matcha is bright, crisp, and full of flavor. All the Kettl flavors I tried dulled in comparison, it didn’t even taste like matcha. The tasting notes on the Kettl label is marketing to Westerners. Hinaya and Kiyona taste similar in profile and are nothing like what is written on the label.

I don’t mean any offense to the owner as he seems to genuinely respect Japanese culture and the farmers he works with. However, 15 years of study in Japan can’t compare to hundreds of years of experience from the people who invented matcha itself.

This was my first order from a US matcha company and I’m sorely disappointed. I won’t be trying others. If you want the real deal, my recommendation is to skip the shiny websites and marketing to western audiences. Order from Ippodo or straight from Japan.

Are level 9 producers worth it?

I have mostly level 8 producers and it’s taking up too much board space to try to level them up. Is it worth having level 9, and if so, which ones are the best?

Best affordable brand now?

Image required so this is a photo of Nio matcha. Brand is okay wouldn’t repurchase. I have been drinking matcha for decades, long before it became a trend. The prices today are insane, for Ippodo, MK, Yami, even smaller companies have crazy high shipping costs now to US! This question is for the snobs here- what are legit dupes for ceremonial matcha that is affordable when shipped to California? We do have Japanese markets here but they don’t carry the quality brands. The store brands just are horrible :-/

Congress Cards

I have a beautiful vintage set, 2 decks of gold/silver playing cards. In the original velvet case was a small rectangular white tissue paper with 6816 printed on it. What is its meaning? Is it the lot #?

Also, is there a way to find when the cards were printed? Ace of Spades has no identifying text.

Best coach for cueing

I just joined and I’m super stoked to start. I’m on Align because I’m big on mindfulness and cueing. But I must be spoiled by my current studio because it’s I’m used to intense cueing- I mean every move it’s how to breathe, exact foot placement, where to distribute weight (towards pink toes or arch), which muscles to engage! Does any programme cue like this on Ladder?

Update: I tried Jennifer’s welcome workout and like her cues! Thanks!

I’m thinking to bite the bullet and join just to have access to Courtney’s old videos. Can anyone confirm that as a new user, I’d be able to view her videos? Her new app Fit with Coco is way to pricey for me

It’s nice to commiserate about peri especially when symptoms are difficult and out of whack. I get venting and needing to rage sometimes. But it can get out of hand. Ie. there’s a rant/rage flair here but no success stories flair.

My peri journey started with sudden weight gain, palpitations, anxiety, anger, hot flashes, and not sleeping well at night. I thought something was wrong with me. And I needed a change. I wanted to be a mature woman who can handle what life throws at me. Women since the beginning of time around the world have had to deal with body changes, and with scientific advances, certainly I should be able to age gracefully without a sense of entitlement. Ultimately my most important job is to be an example for my family and I don’t glorify conflict, anger, irritability. It affects those around me!

Wanted to share what helped me to move from negativity to positivity, and it started with getting into problem solving mode, with a preference for natural lifestyle versus medicating. My symptoms have gotten so much better that they’re literally gone! What helped:
- vitamins : I upped by Vit D and iron, which helped my sleep more than anything else (magnesium, melatonin didn’t work). I’d forgotten what a good nights sleep was like it was that bad.
- my OB prescribed birth control instead of HRT but I’m so glad I didn’t start either. Instead I bit the bullet and take 2.5mg escitalopram, a micro dose that’s enough to take the edge off. It has somatic calming effect that allows me to rest and be productive when I need to
- exercise : I do yoga and Pilates, and it helps my mood so so much. I’ve never been much of an exerciser but my teachers emphasise movement, literally any movement, as crucial to a healthy lifestyle

That’s it. I hope this helps someone out there. It gets better, be patient, look for natural solutions, and don’t give up. It takes work. Aging gracefully means becoming a better human and I’m glad for the journey.

Hullo, I have sensitive combo skin that is easily dehydrated. I have a great simple routine where I live now where it is moderately humid. I will be moving to the desert in a few months and although my hair will be happy, my skin will suffer. Based on my last visit, my cheeks became dry within a few days as did my lips. Any advice on how to properly prep my skin for this change? Does anyone here live in very dry weather? What does your routine look like?
