A History of Violence (2005)

Hard to call it underrated when it’s described as “one of the best movies of the 2000s” but I’d never heard of it until yesterday, and I have no idea how I’ve missed it.

Has it flown under everyone’s radar, or just mine?

[Request] How would this compare to Usain Bolt, Michael Phelps, or other greats’ records?

Looks like his record was actually 83 hotdogs in 2024

People who’s home country changed (for political reasons) what kind of day to day differences did you notice?

I don’t mean people who have immigrated, but people who’s actual nationality changed during their lifetime.

(Loved Trope) The “crazy” conspiracy theorist turns out to be right about everything. (Spoiler Warning)

  1. Woody Harrelson in 2012

Is a secluded “scientist” convinced that yellowstone is due to erupt based on some Mayan prophecies. In the end it does erupt, and he gets to see it first hand

  1. Mad Basil in The Worlds End

He’s the crazy guy down the pub who’s always talking about strange happenings around the town, and wild conspiracy theories. It turns out that over the last twenty years, everyone has gradually been replaced by replicants, and he’s one of the only real people left.

  1. >!Teddy and Don in Bugonia!<

>!For most of the movie you’re rooting for Emma Stone, the rich CEO kidnapped by a couple of lunatics. They have crazy, outlandish beliefs about a race of alien overlords. By the end of the movie it turns out they had everything right, down to the tiniest details!<

Which screenplays are “essential reading” to become a better screenplay writer?

Reading is obviously a vital part of becoming a better writer, and I wondered if there are any great screenplays to help me get into this new format.
