careers?

hello everyone,

i graduated college a few months ago and have been feeling depressed about the job market since everything i wanted to/could see myself doing has been eaten up by AI(writing , admin, research, academia, legal clerk/paralegal) and even when i look up things like a masters in accounting or something, there's still just so many people saying how it's being eaten up by AI. its so demoralizing. anyway, the common advice now is "learn a trade" or be a nurse. i have relatively mild hemiplegia on my left side. i can stand for over 8 hours and be on my feet all day, so that part isnt an issue. but the strength in my left arm is noticeably weaker, i cant lift heavy things(at least for a while, im trying to gain strength with physical therapy and i am getting there) and perhaps an even bigger problem would be my motor skills. my right hand is baseline normal but my left hand, while i can do certain tasks, it takes significantly more concentration to do a lot of stuff, and a few tasks i just flat out can't do with my left hand. occupational therapy is in the cards, but first im still trying to regain my strength on my arm and back overall.

i guess my question is: is it possible to do one of these "in-demand" trade jobs with the limitations i currently have? something that preferably isnt back-breaking. and secondly, what are other careers yall with mild cp fell into? i just honestly want "enough". pay off my loans, move out of my own state, and to fund my hobbies.

how to deal with ethical qualms of making money under capitalism

hello everyone,

i would describe myself as a democratic socialist with progressive social views. free healthcare, public transit, pro choice, etc. i graduated recently with a philosophy degree. it was a phenomenal experience that absolutely shaped me as a person, i loved learning how to articulate myself and think about deep questions. i chose philosophy simply because it appealed to me. in a perfect world, id be a philosophy professor or researcher, but academia is a shithole currently and doesnt pay that well. as the high of graduation has worn off and my savings dwindle, my opinions on jobs/careers shift. during college, i figured id be good with 40-50k a year. but i dont think i can do that, so ive been considering commission-based sales since it lines up with the argumentative skills ive learned. i want out of this capitalistic rat race as soon as possible, to retire early, and that seems extremely possible in the field. i want to move out of my parents house and go be with the one i love. but i just feel... weird about it? obviously, even if i make 6 figures im not going to be jeff bezos, or be abusing underpaid labor in foreign countries. but it feels like a moral failing, that somehow if i chase the dream of retiring early or selling stuff no one needs-obviously not ideal, would try to get into business sales asap-, that i will become right-wing somehow, my personality would shift, or id become out of touch.

is it morally wrong to try and reach my personal goals within the systems of capitalism? or was i given no other choice?

any response is welcome. im sure its a common existential question especially for humanities grads lmfao

is there any way to get 5% cash back on an ikea purchase this quarter?

im currently getting new stuff for my room and for the most part ive gotten stuff through amazon, which i was able to buy gift cards from walgreens to trigger the 5%. one piece of furniture i want is at ikea though, and through my cursory research i havent found any way to be able to get 5% on the purchase with what is offered this quarter. if anyone has any ideas that would be super helpful!

best youtube extension for desktop?

hi everyone,

i had a pretty bad reddit addiction that i stopped with the "distraction free reddit" extension, completely eliminating my access to the popular page which i ended up scrolling for like 2 hours a day. that was great and im proud of myself for that. but unfortunately, now im scrolling youtube instead. does anyone have any extensions that stop infinite recommended scrolling or similar? that would help a ton.

thanks!

Best Credit Card for international hobbies?

Hi there,

What would be the best card with 1)no foreign transaction fees and 2)reasonably high rewards or cash back for international hobbies? I collect figures from japan. The Bank of America Custom cash reward seemed perfect for what I was after, but then I saw it had 3% foreign fees, which cancels any reward I would receive. Capital One doesn't have any foreign fees, but I'm not sure which would be the best for max cash back.

Thanks

my "journey" with religion has been somewhat tumultuous to say the least. nearly 7 years ago in my early teens i stopped believing in god. i went to a church youth event the year after that which briefly restored my faith before i had an eventual mental breakdown because i wanted to play a video game with demonic imagery and themes. after that i reconfirmed to myself my lack of religion. ever since then, ive described myself as a deist, agnostic theist, atheist, apostate, spiritual, and as of late simply an agnostic, where i dont choose one way or another. ive always been a fairly philosophical person, even in my teens where this journey began, and as such i like to read philosophy surrounding god. recently ive been reading dostoevsky, and ive come to notice that i get seriously insecure about arguments for religion. i dont think its a hell thing, or a suffering thing, or a fear thing. religion seems so warm and inviting in the way its described, whether it be philosophy or by believers, but i know what id have to give up and i dont want to give that stuff up. saying im simply agnostic makes the believers in my life feel like im easy prey(and i guess theyre right, considering how insecure i am about my beliefs) and even if they dont say anything directly i can just assume they think it. dostoevsky, for instance, i thought half of brothers karamazov was filler, yet when i brought that up to someone a few decades older i was told that id understand when im older. its like my agency isnt respected, why cant i think half the book is filler, and why am i assumed to be wrong, or uncertain? the critique wasnt even originally about the religious themes and yet the response makes it seem so- insidious. i dont want to be a christian in the future, i hate that it feels so predetermined that im going to "turn back to god" and that im so weak to christian thought. i dont want that and i despise this insecurity. i just want nothing to do with religion.
