Question about Looking for an accomodation (wg/studio) in Bonn

Hey guys!:)

I'm Ibrahim (19) and I'm moving to Bonn around October 1st to do my German course, then start my degree in Computer Science at Uni Bonn.

I've lived in shared flats before, so I'm totally used to keeping shared spaces clean and respecting quiet time for studying. That said, I'm definitely looking for a friendly place where people actually hang out-whether that's cooking together, grabbing a coffee, or just chatting in the kitchen. In my downtime, I like jogging, boxing, gaming, and watching movies (huge Interstellarfan).

Since I'm still organizing my move from Syria, I'd love to hop on a quick video call on Zoom or WhatsApp to say hi and see if we click.

Cheers,

Ibrahim

That's the message I'm sending eveyone on Wg-gesucht, and I'm wondering why isn't there any response even if I contact in minutes after posting , is there something wrong with my message ? Or is it the huge pressure (I send it in german when Mitbewohners are german)

Moving to Bonn in October - what's student life like

Hey everyone,

I'm arriving in Bonn this October for my studies and just wanted to see what life is like there for newcomers. My German is around B1-B2 right now. I'm mainly wondering how hard it is to get settled, find a student job with that language level, and manage day-to-day stuff.

If any current or former students could share their experience or any tips for someone moving in, I'd really appreciate it❤️

Starting CS at TU Dortmund in Summer, transferring to Uni Bonn in Winter - Feasible?

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to study a Bachelor's in Computer Science (Informatik). Since Uni Bonn only accepts 1st-semester applicants in the Winter, I want to start my 1st semester at TU Dortmund in the Summer to avoid wasting 6 months, then transfer (Hochschulwechsel) to Bonn for my 2nd semester in Winter.

A few quick questions:

Credit Recognition (Anerkennung): How well do 1st-semester core modules (Math/CS basics) from TU Dortmund transfer over to Uni Bonn?

Timeline: Dortmund exam results often come out late summer. Is there usually enough time to get a transcript, get placed into a higher semester

(Einstufungsbescheinigung), and enroll at Bonn before Winter starts?

Is it worth it? Is doing 1 term at Dortmund worth the extra bureaucracy?, or is it better to just wait for Bonn's Winter intake?

Thank u so much !
