How do you keep track of what competitors do in marketing? (I will not promote)

Hey all,

Before we pick next year’s marketing priorities, I want a proper look at what our competitors are doing: conferences and events, paid, influencers, AI SEO, social and content.

How do you handle this at your startup? Do you use one tool, a mix, or keep a spreadsheet updated by hand? I’d like to hear what actually works and what turned out to be a waste of time.

Has anyone used Claude skills for this? If they worked for you, which ones would you recommend?

[I'm not working for a competitive intelligence tool; neither do I want to promote them]

Anyone benchmarked GitHub Actions macOS runners against M5 Pro yet?

Apple shipped the M6 and M5 Pro in the new Mac mini on Aug 25. GitHub's hosted macOS runners are still on older silicon, and historically the lag between Apple shipping and Actions runners updating has been long.

For anyone running iOS builds in Actions: what are you doing in the meantime? Self-hosted mini fleet, third party runners, or just eating the build times?

(Disclosure: I work at Bitrise, we're adding M5 Pro to our runner fleet, happy to share numbers if useful but not the point of the post.)

Claude now watermarks all AI-generated text and files. Good news or bad news?

Anthropic just rolled out invisible marking on everything Claude produces. Two methods:

  • An imperceptible watermark woven into the text itself. Survives copy/paste and light edits. Works across API, web, Code, Cowork.
  • Signed C2PA provenance metadata on generated files (.png, .jpg, .svg) so you can tell if they've been tampered with.

New models from Aug 2, 2026 support it at launch. Older models are getting it retroactively. It's global, driven by EU AI Act transparency rules.

a mark only proves Claude touched the content, not that it wrote all of it... And no mark doesn't prove human authorship, since heavy editing or format conversion can strip it. So it's kind of weird

So where do you land? Transparency win, or the first step toward AI content being second-class by default? If it survives light editing, what does that mean for anyone building on top of Claude?

Mobile DevOps vs traditional DevOps

Those of you working on mobile teams, do you consider Mobile DevOps a real discipline or just DevOps with extra steps?

Two things stuck with me as real differences from regular DevOps. The code signing mess: in web you rotate certs and move on, in mobile it gets complex enough that one person ends up owning all the iOS knowledge and nobody else wants to touch it. And rollbacks: in web you revert and redeploy in minutes, in mobile the bad version is already in the store and you are waiting on users to update.
