I want a gig at a bar/club I'm going to tonight. Walk me through networking please.

I have played out like 10 times since April. I think im pretty good. I play semi regularly (every 2 months) at the club "next door" to where I'm going tonight, but I've never done this one (I'm calling it: target club).

My genres work for target club. I live in the neighbourhood. I go there semi frequently. I reached out on IG sent an email and got no response. Bummer.

Tonight, I'm trying in-person...but how???

What's the playbook here? Do i just ask for the booking agent? Or ask the DJ for their contact?

Its a big place, I don't know who is who but im willing to try anything to get a gig there.

Advice wanted and needed, please!!

Has your mpc ever just changed a sequence you've recorded?

Today I freestyled some congas with 16 levels in a sequence and saved. Came back a few hours later and it has subtley changed. It doesn't sound the same. Its deffo changed as if its shifted one pad to the right so the drums just sound weird.

Its not the first time this has happened to me either. Just asking around..

I want us to lose weight. How do I propose this without triggering my GF?

We are both overweight. We just are. I used to be a gym fanatic and runner but time and life caught up. She isn't active. Im dieting and exercising daily to rectify, she isn't.

I won't lie, its affecting attraction.

I want to let her know this is something I need, but without her thinking I'm body shaming or trying to control her or to trigger an emotional defensive response.

Essentially I'm asking how to tell my gf its time to lose weight?

[Meta]: Self-Promo Threads are Wack and Don't Get Your Music In Front of Eyes

I understand spam is a pain in the ass, but containing all the DJ's and Producers in 1 montlhly or weekly thread just means no one is going to check it.

If someone records a YouTube video of themselves (as in face/hands showing, vinyl mixes and the like) mixing for 50 mins straight they should be allowed to be posted. Similarly if someone pushes something to a DSP and wants to advertise it.

Low effort should be kicked out, as usual but IDK it would be nice to see the community supporting up and coming DJs.

Yesterday a young lady asked me what song i was playing

I was playing a disco/boogie set on vinyl and this maybe 20 year old comes up sheepish and asked me what song i was playing because shazam wasnt getting it.

I wrote it down for her and we spoke a little, she liked the music a lot. Her mate asked if i could teach her to mix (absolutley not, i suck lol) and i felt like:

Damn, this is so cool. Proper full cirlcle moment lol

This is why we do it. Sharing love through the music. Showing the cool dusty records we find in weird places. Teaching the younger generations.

Yeah, anyways theres my positive musings for anyone with a bit of a grump on. Make someone happy with your music today!

Promo for a show in another city. Advice and tricks needed

I got a gig in another city, where i have minimal network unfortunatley. Im getting paid a percentage of the bar over a threshold (i wouldnt usually do this, but i was free this weekend and I want more gigs/exposure).

Essentially im looking for ways to get people through the door and interested in the event.

I've done the posting and asking friends to repost. I'm going to record a set on Wednesday and post it on YouTube with the club to show what the night will be like. I'm considering creating a group on meetup.com to try and get people in at the beginning too.

What else have people done or dyu think could work in this scenario???

Omnitronic trm 202 Dead Channel Issue, where to from here?

Hi guys:

So I was stupid and impulsive and bought an omnitronic trm 202 on the second hand market last month. Great mixer, sound etc but..last week: output to my left hand speaker from chanel 1/chanel 2 phono became very quiet/non existent.

Swapped turntables and the issue is in those channels in particular. Turntable is solid, speakers work fine in other set ups.

Question:

Is this fixable? Either asking a tech to fix or learning to fix myself are my two options. Omnitronics customer support didnt even reply to my email lol..

If i do just buy a replacement: what is comparable at the 200- 300 price point?

I really liked how the omnitronix 202 set its eqs and i loved having master isolaters to play with...plus to my virgin ears the sound was so good :(

Any suggetions?

Thanks
