Are cultures top-down or down-up in the NFL?

Do coaches set a culture which players adhere to or do teams bring in players to try to improve their culture? Do some teams operate differently? Is one style better than the other?

“Bear down for midterms” makes perfect sense without any further context. Am I missing something?

Chang: Bear down for midterms
Shirley: I think there’s a dot that I’m not connecting.
Duncan: if I said “fly on the wall for midterms”, you’d ask what I mean

But, “bear down for midterms” makes perfect sense without anymore context. It’s similar to saying “buckle up for midterms.” Duncan’s example is incoherent because the idiom doesn’t work in that context.

Am I missing something?

How much are we just mindless sheep wandering around providing the rich and powerful with wealth from whatever addiction(s) we have?

Is it possible that the largest impact my existence had on the world was that I bought 8 iPhones throughout it? And one had a giraffe sticker. What if I spent $4000 (on the food) for a cruise? Or sold my mom’s necklace for crack?

Not to mention now with the TikTok influencers, or sports betting, gucci handbags. It’s no wonder we try to prevent kids from having sugar. But a slightly older kid with constant social media? Or any of the entire world of content to see?

Humans are inherently self-interested from a Darwinian and a subjective point of view. Natural selection selects for these traits and we suffer from a solipsism preventing us from truly experiencing others’ experience.

This natural human desire for wealth or other personal/social aggrandizement will be increasingly targeted by more advanced systems. Specifically tracking, analyzing, and exploiting consumer behavior.

Humans must be something more than mindless sheep wandering around, being consumerized/exploited for the pleasure of the elite! Many of those that have been freed of their physical chains are still brought down by the weight of other self-imposed burdens.

I fear a world where the entire economy is based on MIC, sports-betting, GRQ schemes, fraudulent or nefarious behavior (from the Epstein class to Andrew Tate and any other decrepit individual of that ilk), cults or other cult-like activity (whether personality, religious, or political).

I think the transcendentalist movement of the 19th century provides the best antidote to what I’ve described. I would love to hear your thoughts.

Give me your favorite band and the best introduction to their music.

Could be an a song, several songs, a whole album if it’s a legit banger (want to keep the introductions shorter, ideally)

Garmin instinct 2 solar without a smartphone?

I’m thinking of getting the I2 solar but also probably not going to have a smartphone for much longer. Would I be giving up a lot of functionality if I don’t use garmin connect? Mainly just worried about tracking my progress, miles without using the app

Is a health scare different from a health-scare?

I wanted to use health scare as in “Rob’s heart attack is a health scare” but I’m also seeing it could refer to public distrust in the medical community… is one a different word?

My CLE is due tomorrow and I haven’t done any of it. Am I screwed?

I’m a brand new lawyer in Illinois, certified in November. It says that you need to do 30 hours every 2 years but that it depends on your last name whether you need to do it in odd or even years. Assuming I would fall into the even number category, I’m probably screwed?
