I still really love this pillow. I spent about a year researching and designing it, creating nearly 20 prototypes before finally bringing it to life. It’s actually production-ready, and we even manufactured around 100 units at the factory. It’s a real shame I never got to ship and sell it in the US, but I’m still eager to share my design with all of you.

A Big Thanks to Rochdi Saidi. Thanks for your help on rebuilding the brand.

I took all the community feedback to heart and teamed up with Rochdi to start completely from scratch. As a brand owner, hearing that our previous name sounded like a generic Amazon brand was tough to swallow. But as a serial entrepreneur, I never give up. After days and nights of relentless hard work, the outcome is incredible! We are absolutely in love with the new design and concept.

If you ever want design help, find Rochdi !

Honest answer will be thankful

What are your first impressions of this brand name?

What do you think about a 5-blade shaver? Does a "five-blade" setup mean anything to you or influence your choice?

How much would you be willing to pay for a shaver like this?

What if I name an electric shaver brand Sydium

Why I quit the OEM grind to build "Sydium"—a brand honoring my family’s 30-year shaver factory and the philosophy of symmetry.

First off, the name Sydium is deeply personal to me.

The concept stems from Xidian, a town in China where my uncle started a small shaver factory 30 years ago. I grew up there, quite literally alongside the factory. Over the past three decades, as China’s manufacturing power exploded, so did my uncle’s company. What started as a handful of injection molding machines in the '90s has evolved into one of the largest electric shaver factories in China.

For years, we manufactured as an OEM for massive global brands like Philips, Braun, and Remington. Working with those big names meant our quality baseline had to be incredibly high. But as I grew up, I realized I wanted to build a brand for my family, rather than just manufacturing for everyone else. I saw firsthand how much money these giant brands poured into marketing—and at the end of the day, it's the customer who pays that premium.

My vision for Sydium is to be a direct-to-consumer (DTC) brand that delivers top-tier, premium-quality shavers without the overpriced markup. Think of it like the "Xiaomi" of the grooming world. Once you understand the heritage and the manufacturing powerhouse standing right behind Sydium, you understand why we are so confident in our quality.

But there is a second layer to the name. I graduated from the California College of the Arts (CCA) with a degree in Industrial Design. My education taught me just how critical it is to understand user needs and the true impact of design.

To me, Sydium also stands for Symmetric Design.

The perfect shave relies entirely on symmetry. Your face is symmetric, your beard is symmetric, and dealing with a part of your body is something sacred. The body reflects the universe: trees, mountains, butterflies, birds, animals, and humans—we are all built on symmetry. Balance is the fundamental law of nature. With this brand, I wanted to call out and honor that inherent beauty.

So, Sydium became the name. It is a tribute to my family’s business, a nod to my hometown, and a celebration of human and universal symmetry.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on the concept and the name!

I use just back with a bit shinning finishing. What do you think

Last time, I make color renderings, they seem like go to far, so I settle back to black.

I'm designing this Sydium Shavers, just trying out some different colors to express feels and taste.
