Fave songs that just “sound very American” to you?

they are not songs about America or the like, but their sound just reminds you of america.

me first:

- Luke combs (yes, I know the original is Tracy chapman): fast car

- the wallflowers: one headlight

- don McLean: American pie (yes it does have the word American on it, but it’s just for rhyme)

What makes a sword a sword and not a “big knife”?

this question sounds dumb, but allow me to elaborate.

i trained with katana and chinese Dao. my instructor described the Dao as ”basically a very big knife“, more than a sword.

i have been getting a lot into European sword history, and it came to my attention that apparently at some point of European history not everyone could have a sword… so some peasants had a workaround and used a German sword, i forgot if the name was falchion or messener (spelling?) the latter of which meant “big knife“ in German.

to be it’s basically a sword, just like the Dao, but apparently they’re “big knives“.

I did some research, and apparently the difference came down to something about how the blade is inserted into the hilt, but I wasn’t very clear about it TBQH

Swatch quality

sorry, I am not a swatch guy. nothing wrong with them, they’re just not my cup of tea. I am addicted to their collabs (omega, Blancpain, and now AP).

I have been researching the brand and apparently swatch stands for “second watch” and they’re not meant to be used daily (durability issues), is that true?

I’m just concerned about breaking my collab plastic swatches with everyday use

The new AP X Swatch is great for the non-snob watch people

the watch snobs insisted that both Omega and Blancpain hated the idea of “tainting their elite brands” by collaborating with the “lowly“ swatch, but their corporate overlords forced them too, since they own both.

now there is an AP Collab, and AP is both, more exclusive than omega AND not part of the swatch group, this is hilarious!!

American here. I don’t like nightclubs at all.

I love low key bar atmosphere, a place where I can walk in, have a beer or a mixed drink, there’s music playing (I don’t mean live music, I mean typical bar music), you can talk with your friends, laugh, etc. Irish pubs and dive bars are a great example (it doesn’t mean the suggestion has to be one of those things).

nice but not pretentious, and in a safe area.

thanks! :)
