Fully Paid Lending program

I've been with vanguard for at least 10 years. I got an email yesterday asking if I wanted to participate in their Fully Paid Lending program - i.e. loaning out my stocks for companies to short the market with.

Has anyone else gotten this?

My Mother

My Mother is 82 and has 3 sons, I am one of them. My dad died when I was in my early 20s, 30 years ago (it was a multi year cancer).

Since then she has had many accomplishments in business and academia. She is a smart and beautiful woman - you would think maybe early 70s or late 60s in age. She remarried 15 years ago to a nice man, he is 85. All of the grandkids think of him as their grandfather, as my dad passed away before any of the sons were married and/or had kids.

Her husband was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago, did treatment and was Ok for awhile but now is clearly declining. He has one son that is a great guy, married ; successful , roughly my age, live 4 hours away from the rest of us.

Mom and stepdad own the house they live in 50/50. When they married the house was worth somewhere around 900k, he had a 500K mortgage & she paid it off, now its worth 2M (she sold her house to move into his).

Step dad updated his will recently to leave his portion of the house to his son. Mom was furious. She does not want to co-own a house with his son. Esp. since she will have to take care of him until he passes and deal with all of the contents. She has told no-one else besides me that she is considering leaving / separating from him. Very uncharacteristic of her.

She was a young woman when her father died, and was left the majority of cleanup responsibilities. I suspect that at least some of this is not wanting to have to do cleanup for the third time in her life.

Children of remarried older parents (or remarried people) - how did you deal with the real estate when one parent dies?

dress code questions for upcoming long weekend trip. mostly Brooklyn but one dinner booked for estela NYC

Hello -we've got an anniversary trip scheduled this summer, staying in Brooklyn to revisit some of our old neighborhoods that we lived in a million years ago. Currently booked for miss ada, Lilia & fish cheeks in Brooklyn with one Manhattan reservation at Estela. I'm guess almost anything goes for dress in Brooklyn, but somewhat curious as to dress requirements for somewhere like Estela - my usual question is "what percentage of men will be wearing a jacket" , but any thoughts on the above would be helpful.

Energy: Is this time different?

I'm interested to hear everyone's thoughts on the energy landscape, specifically for oilfield services in the US. Over the past decade, the number of PE firms in the oilfield service space has shrunk & mainly for good reason. Decent returns prior to covid but more or less misery since then (.....until now?).

Full disclosure - I run a private oilfield service company, considering a transaction. The usually ask of PE ask is 3 years of financials which look like hot garbage.Plenty of hard assets to back up a deal however. Ultimately I think this space is a good candidate for a roll up play with each company maybe being in the 10-20 M range.

Are PE companies still staying far away from oilfield?
