TCX Airtech 3 touring boots

First pair of riding boots, no idea about proper fit. Is this gap intentional to allow more pivot, or just space for pants to stuff in? They're TCX Airtech 3 touring boots, and have enough flex to pivot already without the gap it seems. I just want to make sure these aren't a bad fit on me.

D3O diablo level 2 armor in John Doe monolayer pants

I have a pair of John doe pioneer AAA monolayer jeans that come with knee armor pockets and armor that is kept on place inside the pocket with Velcro that is sewn or glued onto the plastic armor. I'd like to upgrade to diablo level 2 armor but I'm not sure if you can actually attach Velcro to diablo armor. The Motolegends comparison video of diablo vs ghost armor suggests briefly that you can't, but doesn't go into it.
Anyone out there tried to stick Velcro to d3o diablo armor?

Also regarding the John doe AAA pants... these are really comfortable and nice, but I'll be damned if I actually believe these single layer jeans are AAA rated, and I doubt they would be any more abrasion resistant than my Marrakesh pants. What do you think?

Need advice on side bag sizing

I'm looking to get some sidebags for my Honda CB500x so i can ride protected to different places and change into more comfortable clothes when i arrive. I'd like to be able to stash my TCX Airtech 3 boots (12'' shaft height), riding jacket, pants and gloves. Can yall recommend what size sidebags i should be looking at, and any good value options? Thank you.

Klim outlander GTX boots

These are my first pair of riding footwear. I want to like these boots, but they creak really loud every step I take. It seems like the Boa wires rubbing against the hooks. Anyone else experience this?

SW Motech adv hand grip + OEM handlebar insert hack

I just received SW Motech Adventure hand guards. While i was looking up installation videos, i found one where the guy used the internal OEM damper weights inside the handlebar tube to screw the handguard into, supposedly to keep the OEM vibration dampening. It just requires an extra bolt that is a bit longer. I thought that sounded like a good idea at first because the OEM insert is mich more heavy and has rubber for dampening. However on second thought, the OEM bar end weights spin around freely and are only held in by a metal clip. You can also pull them out about 1/4''+, at least on my 2023, so there is play in that direction too. That doesnt seem like the best anchor for a hand grip that is meant to take a heavy load in a crash.

Has anyone done this that can give some feedback?

Here is the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6MQ-XKgW04

Edit: After more research, the reason the oem dampers work is because it is not solidly fixed to the handlebar, but floating via the clips and the rubber. That means you essentially cant have a functioning bar end damper as well as a functioning handguard bar that will stay in place / protect levers from a fall. The hack in the video would work but only if your goal is to keep weather off your hands, not crash protection. Im just going to attach the guards with the sw motech hardware and see if i notice any vibration.

2023 CB500x ears ringing, wind screen / buffeting

I'm a relatively new rider and recently got a 2023 CB500x. I am really excited about riding more but this persistant ringing in my ears is starting to deter me from riding because im worried about long term hearing issues. I have a great Arai helmet and have been wearing 33 NRR foam plugs (Mack's) and i haven't even gone on the highway yet. I've just been exploring back country roads at 55-60 mph.

As a new rider i am also less familiar with what buffeting is and especially knowing what mild vs terrible buffeting is, but I tried tucking my head closer to the tank yesterday and it was so much more pleasant. My assumption is that maybe the buffeting is jarring my eardrums around and making some mild existing tinnitus worse.

From my research so far, it seems very much like the proper wind screen will be dependent on the height of the rider and where the wind hits / doesnt hit the helmet. Could anyone that is on the shorter side (5'7'') that has solved the buffeting issue let me know what your solution was? Thanks so much!

Lightweight packable cover

Can anyone recommend a lightweight packable cover for a cb500x? I want one mostly for theft deterrence, just to cover it up and help keep eyes off it. Thank you!

1991 LiftMaster 1145SLM garage door opening unexpectedly

I just moved into a rental house that has a 1991 LiftMaster 1145SLM garage door opener. The original remote works, and so does the wall mounted button. The issue is that i have come out in the morning 3 times in the past month to find the garage door opened when i didnt open it. Nothing seemingly nefarious / nothing stolen. I figured i'd try to clear the memory by pressing and holding the yellow button on the back of the motor unit, but the red LED never goes out even if i hold it for 30 seconds.

I saw another thread here indicating this opener might not be clearable and may be susceptible to being opened by means other than the remote that is paired with it. Can anyone explain that to me so i know what behavior to expect and how to inform my landlord?

Thanks!

Helmet troubles

I'm trying to find a helmet to wear with my cb500x that has a drop down sun visor. My head is 22 5/8'' or 57.5 cm. That puts me in a medium for most helmets. I've tried a HJC RPHA 72 and a SHoei Gt Air 3 both in medium so far and they feel ok around the crown and i can barely stick a finger in across the forehead but they barely touch my cheeks. Both chin straps are uncomfortable against my adams apple especially when looking down a bit. There is actually a gap between the pads and my cheeks with the RPHA 72, and the GT Air 3 just barely touches them.

I'm not sure if its common for people to need different cheek pads, or if i actually need to size down to a small. The closest cyclegear is a 3 hour round trip for me...and they also dont carry the HJC. I'm feeling pretty discouraged - i was sure shelling out for the shoei was going to do the trick...but the shoei is actually massive and pretty heavy compared to the HJC and it still has the cheek fit issue for me.

I just moved into a new rental house and the living room has this nice big bay window and cool slanted ceiling with exposed beams. It is pretty bare right now because im still re-purchasing stuff from my out of state move and you can see i'm getting creative with temporary accommodations, but i think it has potential. I want a bunch of plants in this room to take advantage of that huge window.

I cannot figure out how i should arrange the couch and TV. It feels wrong to block the window with either the couch or the TV. It also feels wrong putting the TV against the wall where that dog bed is now and putting the couch opposite so the back is exposed because itd be cutting off the flow and would leave just 6'3'' of space for walking and end tables. The couch reclines on both ends, so i dont know if a coffee table is practical, which is why i was planning on end tables instead. I think i'll end up with another chair or love seat, bookshelves / plant shelves (could hang shelves and what not from those ceiling beams because there are lips on each side), a tv stand that is lower to the floor, and i guess idk what to do about the coffee table / end table situation.

What would yall do with this room? Thank you so much, im a total noob i will spend weeks overanalyzing this!
