3rd FTA0 on your I-485

Can sbd please clearly explain what the 3rd FTA0 means for your application. I’m mostly interested in what the system connects to your profile.

(Please do not just mention it is the indicator of soon approval/interview, mostly curious about the technical meaning)

Any information on processing times for Boston FO (non-local)?

The title. Found out today I had been transferred to Boston from NBC. Don't see many EB people who were/are being adjudicated from there. But saw this FO is extremely busy with marriage-based cases and their interviews.

Chat GPT says, for EB transfers to non-local offices, timelines are almost the same because transfer comes from the intent to push the case through faster processing. Not sure if I could trust that:)

Help evaluate the profile for a colleague

The title. I have a friend I care about and would appreciate an honest opinion. I myself did NIW and was approved more than 2 years ago, and I see that criteria became stricter.

Brief description:

PhD Candidate in Chemistry (top 20 uni)

6 publications in high IF journals of American and Royal Society, as well as Springer. 3 first authored. One paper is being revised currently after minor revisions

Not sure, but about 20 conferences in the US, 10-12 abstracts are published and easily accessible.

37 citations (not in abundance but maybe will work)

From paper acknowledgments, I saw he had multiple fundings but he insists on only including one (DOE) which directly funded his study.

Can get multiple US based recommendations and I suggest doing it.

Chen accepted him with standard refund or refile policy. I recommended to not work with EP-they got worse and take any case.

2 more details: person is from 39 countries (I heard about the court ruling) and if it helps the work is mostly in Chemical Engineering, associated with modifying natural polymers for their better extraction and reuse. Briefly, green chemistry but can be described as smth more nationally important than that, including extraction of rare earth elements, which I know is sort of popular due to recent economic agreements

Thanks!

Speculation about EB2 NIW interview scheduling

Hello all,

Just wanted to share some speculation. We all noticed that EB2 NIW interviews became quite frequent over the past few months. I got curious about potential interview triggers and chatted with multiple people who were recently interviewed or scheduled for interview.

My conclusion is a bit surprising. it’s not the country of concern as many would think. 1) it is working on CPT (regular CPT) while being a student and 2) adding/having a derivative. The last one most of you probably noticed already.

Please share your thoughts about it.

PS: overall the process can be a random administrative procedure in certain FO.. So I do not insist I am 100% correct*

What is your opinion about potential outcomes of the new memo on EB2 NIW and EB-1, where applicants are switching from statuses like F/F-OPT/J? What do your guts say?

Just like the majority of us, I got under the influence of the new memo and keep being upset over the past few days. I am in the EB2 NIW category and filed for AOS directly from F less than two months ago. I keep speculating on how we are going to suffer from that..

Are we actually expected to get denials or RFEs that are hard to argue? Will be happy to hear opinions of people in EB categories.

I also have many colleagues who happen to be from 39 countries (I am not). How is this memo going to lay on top of those restrictions - are they still going to be paused or processed under the new memo?

Thank you all for your feedback.
