New subreddit for Bisexuals of India 💗💜💙

Hey everyone! We recently started r/IndiaBisexuals, a space specifically for bisexual people in India.

There are plenty of general LGBTQ+ spaces, but let’s be honest, sometimes you just want to talk to people who get the very specific bi experience that too in INDIAN CONTEXT cause this society bangs us harder 😭

Bi erasure? Coming out? Dating? Family? Relationships? Being closeted? Questioning whether you’re actually bi for the 69th time? The whole “you’re just confused straight woman or lesbian” classic? 💀 There are so many things we could talk about that deserve their own space!!!! 😩

There have been Indian bi communities before, but some have gone inactive or disappeared over time. So why not try again and actually keep it alive this time?

And honestly, there are probably way more bi people in India than we realise, y'all just too good at hiding 🫪 So let’s make it easier to find each other.

Also,

NEED MORE MODERATORS TOO!!!

I got an experience of a potato in modding so if anyone knows even basic navigation and is active on reddit then please help me out <3

Would love to have you all there. Join us 🫶

Women happily monogamous and not missing the other gender?

I've noticed that in bi spaces women/men in (mostly hetero but homo too) relationships say they have strong urge to be with same sex even when they describe themselves as happy with their spouse. It's common even here.

It's not limited to people who have never been with the same sex and realised later. People with experience also seem to have the same urges. So you can't dismiss this as a "missed out experience."

I have never dated a woman fully and sexual encounters were all online, none physically. Yet I'm hella happy with my boyfriend and have absolutely 0 urge to pursue women.

It makes me wonder whether these people are simply folks who realised monogamy isn't for them? These questions feel more suited for poly subreddit than bisexual ones. They also seem to blame their behavior on bisexuality more than their own feelings and preferences.

Can't help but think how much they play into stereotypes that bisexuals can't be happily monogamous or will end up leaving for other sex at some point. Also that a bisexual partner comes with a lot of uncertainty over sudden gender preference that a straight/gay one won't, making them seem unreliable.

Are bisexual LITERALLY that different or is it just that social media is an echo chamber? Any women who are simply happy without missing any gender in their relationship?

Lgbt space in India barely has wlw represention?

Not sure how much this belongs here.

I had been surfing on the lgbtindia sub for a month or so and noticed how highly male dominated it is?

There's barely any wlw post and experience being talked about. Like 8/10 post would be about gay men or men and their stories which is great ofc! No complaints about it. But i can't help but notice the disparity. I see mlm couples there but barely any wlw. Why so?

This made me not want to participate much in that sub. Women have to make separate women only space to be visible.

This is also a common observation I've seen among general lgbt/queer spaces. Even the NSFW subreddit for Indian lesbian is SHIT, inactive and just weird despite having over 50-60k visits weekly. It feels male centered.

Anyone else who Never (or too low) experienced the "Bi-cycle"?

I'd start by saying that I'm very new to the community side of being a Bisexual. But I have known I'm Bisexual since i was 15 yo. I just didn't care about having the community feeling.

So, now after years I'm coming to the lgbt/bi side of social media for the first time to see how things are over here. And let me tell you! I feel like an ancient person teleported to a new world.

I fail to relate to a lot of things with other bi people online. One of the major things is the Bi-cycle.

My attraction has always been straight forward, I don't care about the gender, just whoever my mind decided looks pretty? It has never been "only men" or "only women" cycle.

Most people seem to go through this here at least, never met anyone like me. So, I'm asking, is there anyone who has never felt the Bi-cycle?

Bisexuals, help me out!

I know that I'm bisexual since i was 15. It wasn't a huge discovery for me it was just an "ok".

I was never in "touch" with the lgbt/bi community or cared about wanting support/people with similar exp. I didn't deem it important for my experience. It was just a sexuality for me. No crisis, no shame, no questioning.

I've also had bad experiences in the wlw scene (with men larping). Never got into an actual relationship. I don't like casuals, hence no physical experience. The shortage of Indian sapphic women is too much anyways.

I stopped entirely approaching women 2 years back because the reality of my life hit. Ik i can't date women realistically speaking, not in this country and not with my family type. I wasn't ready to "fight" when I could just choose the easier romantic option by getting with a man.

I'm 23 now and free from busy life, so I wondered why not surf through lgbt and bi spaces and connect for the first time.

Recently, I started surfing through Bi subreddits and honestly? And i don't like them much and feel like a newbie to the community despite existing as a bi woman for a long time. I'm also trying to learn or unlearn things.

Learnt about new terminologies and I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around. I feel ancient.

  1. Split attraction model: This is soo very new to me. I never knew one could be just "Sexually" attracted to one gender and "romantically" attracted to another. Bisexual and homo/hetero romantic, etc is all new to me. Personally my attraction to men and women is both sexual and romantic.

I see so many "I only have sex with men but date only women" or vice versa.

  1. Attraction % - it was new to know that people can do "90% into women 10% men" "70/30" "80/20". I never analysed my bisexuality enough to see who's more or less and frankly didn't care.

  2. Bi-cycle: This is alien to me as well. Feeling attracted to one specific gender over a period of time/circumstances then changing it to another gender over another period.....like wow?

I see folks saying that they are attracted to men more when they are stressed lmao. Cool.

  1. "Yearning" the other gender: So this is something i personally do judge a bit.

Bi people who are in relationships with one gender and suddenly miss the touch and feel of the "other gender" sounds absolutely crazy. They often blame their bisexuality for this where they crave the other gender while being with one or want "both".

I think this really falls into the stereotype that bi people cannot be happy in a monogamous relationship with 1 person. I see multiple posts regarding this, it's not uncommon and people often validate this which.....sucks.

.

.

.

It all comes down to sexuality being a spectrum ig.

Are there more things besides this which are popular online narratives? I'd love to know.

I would also like to add that I'm NOT judging people different than me, except 4.

I also feel like a lot of these are through western pov. But I like the reliability of Indian groups and realities, hence, I don't usually like surfing r/bisexual much.
